misc bilge ill add as i remember him. please all take this info with a grain of salt; this entire profile is currently just a series of unfiltered and unprocessed thoughts.

- ship captain and master mariner to many armed-merchant vessels exporting goods across the ocean blue. at sea more often than he is on land; and as a result he lives his life nearly exclusive from his wife’s. he at some points feels completely estranged from their marriage. this is only partly true, however, and this reasoning is used primarily to overshadow a wide range of sinister details in their relationship that respectively lead to both parties finding it a labor to be in the other’s presence. they raised two children: a daughter from his wife’s first marriage, and a son they had together. despite carrying devastating weights and baggages against each other, they find they are less interested in purposefully antagonizing the others’ lives.

- he has impaired hearing as a result of his proximity to cannons and other explosives from his many years served in the navy. talks a little bit louder than others for this reason, his brazen voice oftentimes making him sound more intimidating without really intending to do so. great for telling his officers and sailors what to do; bad for a majority of other social interactions with those not accustomed to his manner of speech (usually landlubbers…). deep, stern voice that has a very particular combination of Quaker plain speech and period-specific northern US accents (these are not voice claims, but think of some cross between Peck's captain ahab + this audio sampling to give a more clear sense of his vernacular and manner of speech.) Speech generally tends to be very orderly and direct; as it's naturally inclined to strict honesty, and lacking any artificial elaborations as a result of his Quaker upbringing.

- he spends any downtime he has illustrating maps of his and  (and others…) trading routes...

- master of the cutlass and singlestick combat. in the earlier years of his naval career, he was a swordsman’s instructor. he has trained men who hold greater naval status than him in his current-day.

- expects rigor from his sailors; but makes an effort to reward hard work where it's due. greatly respected and trusted by his crew, although to consider his presence entirely “likable” amongst his crew would be a layman’s misunderstanding.

- an insane hypochondriac and clean freak. his standards of cleanliness on his ships require much more rigor and upkeep (to both his officer’s and seamen’s displeasure), although his steely orders of cleanliness in both seaman and vessel make the mortality rates of his sailors substantially lower than other shipmasters' voyages of his time. he lacks both the words and refined medical education to explain any coherent scientific reasoning behind his methods, but his beliefs encapsulate a very early and primitive understanding of modern-day germ theory. he also keeps a potted lemon tree he uprooted from his wife's garden in his office so he never has to worry about catching scurvy, to which he does know is some sort of illness that can be prevented by citrus fruits.

- Generally in a good mood despite what his face likes to convey. Tends to only show signs of irritability in the presence of those who try to make big decisions without his approval, or other decisions made without much rational thought, and interestingly, worsening weather. it is said by his sailors that his forecastable moodiness makes a more useful barometer than any instrument they have on board. this does not stem from a fear of the ocean‘s unruliness, as he is well acquainted with her unpredictable nature like “any other sensible woman,” but instead from irritating arthritis + joint pains that ensue from the quick shifts in weather. rumor has it that his hair can tell the direction of the wind is blowing aboard the ship that day, as he can stand rather still on the quarterdeck as he oversees his sailor’s day-to-day operations. the latter is largely a harmless joke.

- an old shipwright once likened him to that of Shaker door in it’s height and sturdy stature. he does not like being called a door and finds this metaphor very bizarre.

-enjoys his sailors’ music-playing, except whoever the fuck plays that high-pitched flute. he has yet to find out who the hell plays the piccolo on his ship, as the perpetrator seems to know it makes him angry. only he seems to pay any terrible mind to it. enjoys the sound of the accordion the most. wishes he were more musically-inclined like his wife.

- he is referred to grazio by mori because he dislikes both saying and the sound of garrison’s name; both first and last. linguistically, grazio is much easier for him to say.* grammatically, grazio is the present, first-person singular of graziare, which means to give pardon, or spare.

*…due to the fact it’s a shorthand version of mori’s real name, Graziano.

STILL WIP. I remember being really high before putting random information on here that no one but me really cares to know. this is by no means an exhaustive list of things that describe him, but i thought it would be nice to give him a little bit of writing that helps me remember how to write and illustrate him more.
