Blank-o is sort of a blank, "shadow" version of Plyso Hermefiore and is used to represent the artist, Seyumei.
Visually, he looks like an outline of Plyso, and is usually very simply or poorly drawn in the art he's in. This is so audiences can relate to or project onto him better.
Since Plyso is his own character with his own goals and backstory, completely unrelated to his creator, Blank-o and Plyso should be considered as completely separate characters (with only some visual similarities).
