She was a kittypet named Snake, until she met her mate, blackwind. He was accused of murdering his brother, and framing the deputy. He was exiled, and he found her. They traveled together, and they shared stories together. They ended up in a field near his old territory, where the medicine cat spotted them. She had said she received a prophecy about him coming back, and she led him and Snake back to the camp. 

The leader only let them stay as guests because the medicine cat had insisted.

Snake later got a prophecy that night about the deputy, Needlestripe. 

A needle was laying the shadow of the forest. She heard someone say “The needle sparks of ambition and jealousy, it will light the clan aflame, unless the wind of the night can return once more to hush the fire.”

She told the medicine cat the prophecy, in which she recited it to the leader. The leader kicked out Needlestripe, who had admitted to the murder of Blackwinds brother.

The leader let them stay, with her earning the warrior name “Snakeleaf.”

She later became deputy, and then leader.
