Outwardly, she is timid. She’s an awkward, paranoid sort of girl, who doesn’t seem fully accustomed to socializing. Very much a creature of obligation and dependence, preferring groups or at least a companion to being alone. She doesn’t like to incite conflict.

...But, that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen. Saintly is plagued by Zephyr’s thoughts, and Zephyr had something nearly constantly on her mind: murder. She can be easily provoked and might jump at the chance of violence; Zephyr didn’t feel remorse the same way that Saintly does. When flung into battle (typically by Zephyr’s influence), Saintly takes a backseat as the murderous cultist in her takes over, delighting in each kill (they have a lot of catching up to do in order to please Bhaal).

She, however, tries very hard to atone for this. If she’s ever angry at anyone, she’ll apologize, even if said anger was justified. She tries to commit good deeds when she can, in order to balance out the bad she believes to lay inside of her. This need to do good often leads to her assuming a motherly position in the party; she believes that the party is linked in some otherworldly way, destined to do good in the world together. She feels like she needs to keep that group together, fearing she won’t be able to find out what happened to her without them. She’s very loyal to the party, since they’ve had her back time and time again.

Zephyr Galecrest, the product of a beggar and a djinn, was left on the doorstep of a Bhaalist priest. Seeing as only a fool would turn down a free Genasi child, she was brought into a secluded place of worship to the lord of death and given a name befitting of her heritage. Taken under the wing of the church of Bhaal, she was raised on the twisted ideals of murder as a necessity to bring strength to their God, trained to sacrifice for his eventual revival.

She was a young woman of no remorse. Haughty and unafraid of opponents, she became skilled with the ways of archery; striking from afar was a necessity with such a distinct appearance as a genasi. Slaughter was simply an aspect of life for her, something she never saw as unjust. She was raised by humans who would let her watch such killings and learn how to perform sacrifices. To keep their powerful youth untainted by the outside world, much of her life was spent confined to her temple and the forests surrounding it. Her curiosity piqued interest to the outside world and its wonders, but her piety kept her confined to her religious life.

The early days of her adulthood, however, saw points at which her curiosity would overtake her piety. From time to time, she’d sneak off to nearby villages when she was meant to be finding victims in the forests, observing the life outside the temples. Though initially dismissive of the villagers that would rejoice with one another, the want to learn and understand what lay beyond her church grew with each secret visit. She’d visit regularly for months, until she was eventually caught by a fellow Bhaalist.

For her actions that could potentially expose these cultists, she was meant to pay with the price of her life. What was meant to be a slow death by means of dark magic ended up ineffective. The magic that was meant to pull apart her mind from the inside only locked away her memories and rendered her unconscious in the forested area they dumped her body.

Saintly’s story follows.

She awoke in the home of a kindly tiefling woman by the name of Salvation, who so kindly found her during her travels and brought her in, nursing the poor amnesiac back to consciousness. Saintly gained her name as a virtue name, in reference to her innocent and demure nature. While she was very quickly able to bounce back to health, enough to reacquaint herself with archery, she came to a rather horrifying realization: the presence within her mind, a second conscious of sorts. Still plagued by her old compulsions of murder, she made the decision to set out on a quest, to hopefully find clues of her lost identity, and to perhaps atone for the more unsaintly deeds she may have comitted in the past.
