Overview

A firbolg living in the forests away from humanity, Lunetta gained her name - and their new parent - when she arrived at her mentor's home at the age of 10, no longer having a clan to call her own. The woman that adopted her was Solaria Talis, an elven necromancer who had already taught Etta the ways of magic. Taking pity on the firbolg, Solaria was happy to open her home to Etta. In time, Solaria became as much of a mother as a mentor and whatever tragedy that had befallen Etta fell to the wayside of the past. However, Solaria was already old, with her health already beginning to fail, and Solaria passed away just after Etta became an adult at 30.

Etta was heartbroken, retreating more into seclusion. They spent the next 150 years in relative solitude, studying her mother's extensive library and continuing to hone her magical craft. Though Etta had little in the way of socialization, she still made friends with the earth around her, eventually befriending a raven who she named Mortimer. When Mortimer died, as birds often do, Etta decided to keep the skull, fashioning it to a staff and turning the whole staff into an arcane focus. In her extensive studies, Etta learned several things of interest, most notably the spell Find Familiar - and with it, she recreated her dear raven friend.

Etta, as a half-giant, is fairly tall compared to humans, standing at seven feet, five inches. They're fairly willowy, slightly underfed for her height and age. Her "skin" is black and fuzzy to the touch, while her off-white hair is short, fluffy and feels wool-like to the touch. Their ears are long, fuzzy, and fairly expressive. Her eyes are brown and framed by thick, overly large round glasses. She has a small fluffy tail, off-white like her hair - complete with the rest of her physical appearance, she generally looks like a humanoid sheep. She wears fairly simple clothing, preferring blues and purples.

Early on in the journey, Etta rescued a sailor with the help of Soleil - a man named Andrew Verrant, whose crew had been overtaken by the island the party was heading towards. Andrew had requested the group to find a man named Rodrick if they could, as Rodrick was important to him - and upon rescuing him and the two being reunited, the party quickly realized the two were married. Etta quickly took to both Andrew and Rodrick, the latter far moreso as Rodrick was an accomplished wizard, and he became one of the first people to learn more about her past. What began as a meeting of the minds quickly turned into a parent-child relationship, with Rodrick treating her as a daughter and Etta increasingly distressed at how kind he was to her, someone who didn't deserve it. When she was finally able to admit she cared for him as family, she was adopted by Rodrick and Andrew, and eventually she decided to take their last name as well.

In her travels, Etta has found a second home in the port town of Leiptr, visiting often, whether to purchase supplies or simply run odd jobs for money or to help others. After deciding to help reorganize the Leiptr archives, she met Rina, the archivist that eventually became her girlfriend, as well as her sister in law, Jennifer, and her small niece, Jenny.

  • Etta's In Character Journal
  • Etta was conceived as an oddball wizard with an undecided race and wizard school, with a friend suggesting firbolg!
  • The idea of making firbolg more animal-like was taken from Critical Role, though that wasn't the intentional from her initial design! As I designed her, she became more and more sheep-like, so I decided to roll with it.
