Velia Caselli

Deer Appearance: Velia's fur is sleek and dark gray, almost black, with a bit of fluff on her shoulders. Her undercoat is a lighter gray, only visible at her shoulders, tail, and in triangular patches on her neck and sides. Beneath each turquoise eye is a pale yellow swirl. Her tail is long and very fluffy, and she is able to move it much like a cat moves its tail. Velia is small, approximately 80 pounds, and thin in stature. Her only means of defense are her hooves and well hidden pointed canines. She is capable of taking a human face if she wishes, though she rarely does so. In this form, represented by the lack of a mask, she has pale ivory skin and long, black hair with some waves in it. Her canines are not present if she shows her human face, leaving the doe even more defenseless. Always present around her neck is her engagement ring from Isadore, strung on a gold chain beside a small gold cat charm, and the malachite necklace given to her by Kemosiri.

Human Appearance: Think Scarlett Johansson but with wavy black hair, down a bit past her shoulders. Velia is Italian in descent in her present life, tall and slender with pale skin. She's very conventionally attractive and she knows how to use this to her advantage.

Personality: Velia is usually calm with varying amounts of playfulness when stable. Her mannerisms tend to be more feline than cervine. Velia needs close connections to keep her grounded, she thrives on this affection and close contact. She tends to be clingy when unstable. She is easily distracted, flighty, and absent-minded without her grounding presence nearby. In her human lives this was Isadore, in the forest this role has fallen to Kemosiri. In any event, whoever becomes her grounding presence will hardly ever be without her company. Isadore described her as being almost unearthly, far more present in the other realms than in reality. To those she cares for the feline-like doe is kind, loving, and perhaps overly caring at times.

Velia can be shy or uneasy around acquaintances and has a difficult time trusting anyone. She suffers from an intense fear of abandonment by her closest ties. Prone to bouts of deep depression where she becomes almost reclusive. Once she's decided to do something, Velia can become quite stubborn and unyielding. She also has a bit of a temper and is prone to trying to rebel against anyone she feels is trying to control her. As she is still a teenager, her mood is capable of shifting rapidly and she can be rather unpredictable in that regard. She almost always regrets what she says when her temper flares. She tends to be all bark but little bite. When she does bite, however, she knows how to inflict the most damage.

The hungrier she is (see below), the more erratic her behavior and moods become. When completely in the grip of her hunger she can become unpredictable. She fears losing control like this, and thus tries to keep her hunger in check as much as she can. Her bouts of depression, though, have been known to make her neglect to feed long enough to lose control of the hunger. In the grip of her depression, Velia can be very critical of herself and may lash out at herself or others.

The Vampire: Velia is what is known as a psychic or energy vampire. She appeared normal throughout her childhood, apart from tiring easily, which everyone believed was just a side effect of her fragile health. It was only at puberty that the truth was revealed to her by Isadore. Her health was fine, it only seemed fragile because normal food does not sustain her; she must feed off the energy of others in order to survive. She cannot even eat normal food now that she lives in the forest. Emotional energy is another source of food, though this is her last resort. Those whose emotions she has fed off of tend to become addicted to the empty feeling her feeding leaves behind, which is why she rarely feeds this way. She typically makes use of two methods of feeding: physical contact and psychic contact, through tendrils of psychic energy she can send out from her aura at will. Her usual source of food is the ambient energy of the forest, though on occasion she will feed from other deer. She does not like to tell others what she is.

Possible effects of being fed on are tiredness and listlessness if the feeding took place over a prolonged period. It is entirely up to the player if they want their deer to be affected by this after contact with her in forest. Typical feedings, though, are brief and should leave no noticeable effects other than possibly slight tiredness. Sensitive deer will feel a slight tingling or prickling sensation if touched by one of her feeding tendrils.

She has the gift of psychic shielding and has also been capable of astral projection in the past. While some of her kind are hybrids and require blood as well as energy to live, Velia is not one of these.
