Personality

At first glance, Nadia could be characterized by many as a woman who turns heads wherever she goes. Charming in mannerism and appearance, Nadia is a naturally charismatic individual who has little trouble blending with others when given the chance. She has a special way with words that seems to enrapture others and seems to cast a hypnotic effect over strangers at times. Despite being a natural with people and her past occupations, however, Nadia is far from any sort of party animal or even an extrovert, preferring her own company, or that of her close friends above all else. A natural caregiver at heart, Nadia always places her primary concerns on the wellbeing of others, and will prioritize the feelings and well-being of others over all else, marking herself as second. She tends to be an empath, able to easily analyze the situations anf eelings of others to help better get a read on people and even assit them with their emotions and problems at times. She’s a loyal friend always ready to lend life advice to others and generally has a story to go with them, often referencing old wives tales and animal fables to offer moral lessons in a less critical way. Nadia is also a very hard-worker and takes nothing for granted, well aware of what value even the smallest of possessions or gestures can mean.Shes very level headed, and rarely acts on impulse. She is also typically very observant and prone to quick thinking and action when life calls for it, able to come up with fairly unusual but effective solutions.

Despite her kind nature, Nadia can come across as very cross and quiet at times to people she isn’t familiar with. This stems from massive trust issues rooting from the betrayals and abuses she has suffered at the hands of strangers and even the woman she was supposed to trust most in her life, her mother. It is also clear she holds a great many regrets in her life, often considering herself to be a coward when courage mattered most and dedicating her life to trying to make up for mistakes long since passed. She gets angry with herself very easily, and tends to be over-critical about the things around her. While it is mostly herself she focuses on, she can often come across as very critical of others when her mood is lowered significantly enough, something she often regrets later, especially as she fears haring others overall. She is terrified of dragging others into her issues and wants nothing more than to keep the people who matter to her safe.

All things considered about her fears and reservations, Nadia learned early that is is not a good idea to conceal one’s feelings, and, because of this, is generally not afraid to speak her mind, even if she only does so when asked or when she feels it matters the most. While not one to spill her entire mind and life story, or anything about her past for that matter, she doesn’t hesitate to speak up when she believes she’s been wrong or feels hurt by the actions of others, and often encourages others to do the same. Despite her current lifestyle as a drifter and wanderer, she seeks security and stability, and wishes the same for others, even if they have desires to take risks in life and seek adventure themselves. This can contribute too many seeing her as stern and cross at times, but a well-meaning caretaker figure as well. Despite this, Nadia isn't always the best at planning, though she tries, due to her willingness to accept that life gets in the way and everyone should be adaptable, as she tends to be. It is often noted that despite her loyalty and honesty, Nadia can be rather sly at times as well, something rooting to her more shady days and contributing to her current living style as a drifter and wanderer. She is quick to see through deception and can easily craft it in response should she believe the situation calls for it. It is also often noted that Nadia can come off as somewhat of a prude at times, though she rarely judges the people she travels with for their own sexual exploits. She likes to consider her sexuality sacred, trying to recover herself from the life she was previously forced to live and swearing only to give once more to the person she would seek to spend the rest of her life with. Also known to be rather stubborn, though not as bad as Andie.

The Dove

Where a Dove represents motherhood, peace, purity and hope, Nadia finds association through common ideals. A nurturing soul at heart, Nadia can find representation in her caring personality, her search for inner peace, her newly defined purity despite her life, and her hopes for a brighter future. Nadia has several Dove tattoos on her body and is often seen with the birds in various shots. Specifically they tend to flock to areas where she stands and where her things lay.

The Fox

Nadia is often associated with the fox due to her kind yet cunning nature. Given her resourceful nature and ability to think on her feet, Nadia is a worthy adversary for those who oppose her, even with her initially caring personality. She knows how to pull stops when she must, and tends to associate all of this with a certain admirable class. She wears a Fox on her shirt and often refers to the animals in her fables. Her stuffed animal also bears the face of a fox.

The fox is often associated with physical or mental responsiveness, increased awareness, cunning; seeing through deception; call to be discerning, ability to find your way around, to be swift in tricky situations and an affinity with nocturnal activities and dream work

Security versus Risk

Nadia is often associated with the idea of Security versus Risk as she classes with Andie on certain levels. Both seek one thing yet seem to fall victim to the other, Nadia wanting nothing more than to find a safe place to spend her life, yet always happily jumping ship the first chance she can in order to run from her past.

History

Life in Bulgaria

Born to a baker with an alcohol addiction in a town of no consequence in Bulgaria, Nadia lived with her mother, running errands and attempting to help her mother where she could. Born out of wedlock, it was clear that Nadia’s mother resented the girl from the moment she was brought into the world, and made no attempts to hide it. Nadia often sought comfort from others in her town as they attempted to shelter the young girl as best they could from her mother’s rage and frustrations. Nadia took solace at the local church, finding some degree of hope in the idea of religion even if she didn’t completely understand it. Nadia formed a bond with one of the local priests, who gifted Nadia a book of fables at one point, believing she would benefit from the morals and knowing full well the girl had next to nothing, the book able to act as a source of entertainment. Everything changed for Nadia, however, at the age of 6 when her mother found herself unable to satisfy her own alcohol addictions. In desperation to find money to further her own addictions, Nadia’s mother did the unbelievable: she sold her own daughter.

Life in New York

After her purchase, Nadia spent some time in Moscow, where she was treated relatively well and given a rather brutal but effective education. After a few months of remaining in Moscow, Nadia was eventually sent overseas to New York, forged paperwork designating the girl to now be “Alice”. Remaining in New York for a few years, Nadia’s education was continued, and she showed signs of being a very bright and sociable young girl, picking up information quickly and easily, displaying a sharp perception and a charismatic attitude. She also showed to be rather adept in shadier aspects of life, stealing, lying and forging rather well as she went. Even self desense was taught to her for a time. When not learning, Nadia worked as a young maid and courier for her traffickers, earning her keep and showcasing her growth as time went on. This was, at least, until she hit puberty. At age 13, Nadia’s “owners” had decided the girl had become prime enough to make money in a much different way, and began readying to fly her to her new home in Las Vegas.

Life in Vegas

After arriving in Vegas, Nadia continued her usual trends, but was forced into a new corner not long after: prostitution. Where her previous overseers had been kind enough to her, Nadia’s new “pimp” showed to be much more brutal in his approaches to her and did not showcase many moral objections to prostituting a child and so, Nadia found herself on the streets at night and classrooms in the day, brutalized 24/7 because of it all. For four years Nadia found herself abused and neglected while being use for all her worth in every way possible, be it of her mind or her body, couriering, prostituting or simply watching, along with so many others of her age and situation. At the age of 17, coming of legal age for some of the activities she had been subjected to and having matured considerably into a what many considered to be a beautiful and exotic young woman, Nadia found herself moving up in the world. Or at least, up in the chain. Believing she would make more money at private parties meant for the rich and the famous, Nadia found herself on reserve for parties and events where she was bound to make a small fortune in the night. At this point in her life, Nadia never seemed to think much of what she did. It was her life, all she had known for some time. But it didn’t disturb her any less. No matter how desperately she might have hated it, however, she couldn’t bring herself reason enough to leave. That was, until, one fateful encounter made her realize how desperately she needed to escape.

Working for the Police

During one particular party, she had watched a newer, much younger girl head off with a john to do what everyone knew they did in their business, not thinking much of it. When Nadia went outside to find herself some fresh air, however, she found the young girl, likely no older than 14, dead in a trash heap. Horrified, Nadia went to try and find help, but was berated and told to ignore it threats of death keeping her from doing anything about the issue. She was soon dragged home after this, but felt the weight of the issue crushing her mind. In her desperation, Nadia lied her way out of her “prison” in order to enable her to call the police, knowing she just had to do something, anything, and knowing she had full well let it happen in a way. She couldn’t help thinking she could have stopped it if she had seen where everything was going, but felt herself trapped. Speaking to the police, they assured her it was far from her fault, but one detective offered her the chance for atonement. He offered the girl the chance to help them make sure this would never happen to any of her friends and associates again by assisting in bringing down the ring. Informing her of a plant they had already implemented in the form of the son of a document forger often employed by the trafficking ring who also found himself proficient in forging. He had come forward about the issue some time earlier, and Nadia had known the forger in passing, but never really paid him much mind. Desperate to find a way out, Nadia agreed to wear a wire where she could.

Escape

For a year, Nadia found herself wearing her wire and quickly moving up in the ranks from hooker to the more intricate dealings of the ring, becoming a favorite of the man in charge of that local ring. All the while, Nadia continued to wear a tap for the police, working closely with and bonding with the forger. However, as time went on, Nadia became more fearful and nervous, especially with the ring cracking down on trying to secure themselves away from the police. Nadia wanted nothing more than her freedom, began searching for a way to escape not only the ring but also the police. Seeing how nervous the young woman was becoming, the forger she had been working with decided to take Nadia’s life into his own hands, believing she had served her time and sentence for everything that had happened. He forged for her all the paperwork she would need to live off the map and start anew, telling her that, when the time was right, she would have the opportunity to start over. As time grew short and the time to apprehend the trafficking ring grew near, Nadia became fearful and found herself unable to continue the charade safely. Leaving an anonymous package for the detective she had been working for containing what information she had gathered, Nadia soon thereafter fled, leaving her old life behind. For days her burner phones seemed to go nuts as people attempted to contact her, her pimp with threats and pleadings and the detective with reassurances. She refused to concede to either, however, determined to start anew. She knew herself to be a coward, failing to help those she had initially set out wanting to help. But her fear made her human, and if it was a coward she was to be, perhaps someone better than she was needed to save everyone. She held many regrets for leaving, but didn’t believe she could do anything to make a difference.

Meeting Andie

After escaping from Vegas, Nadia made her way north into Washington in an attempt to find work and a fresh start, but soon found herself falling a bit flat due to the uncertainty of her situation. Determined not to fall back into her previous line of work, she worked dead-end jobs and stints that earned her next to nothing simply to try and afford her next meal. Life seemed to be fading fast for Nadia, and it likely would have, if it had not have been for the timely intervention of the young girl who would change her life: Andie. After a night of hard work and no nutrition, Nadia found herself collapsing from exhaustion and pondering whether she would even be able to wake up the next morning. It was then that a warm face lit a spark of hope in Nadia once again: a young 15 year old girl with boundless kindness and sympathy for Nadia’s situation. Nadia questioned the girls trusting nature for bring a stranger to her home, asking her “Why help me? I’m a stranger,” only to receive the answer “Does that make you any less deserving of help?” Andie allowed Nadia to stay with her for a time while her foster parents were out of town, the two quickly bonding and confiding in one another during their short time together. Soon, however, Nadia began to feel too comfortable in a place where she knew she would never be able to stay, fearing the security of it but desiring something like it. And so, she eventually was forced to say her goodbyes to Andie in order to seek out a safe haven of her own.

A Fateful Reunion

Nadia remained in the county for a time, able to find room in a shelter while she continued to work for enough money to move on once more, but soon found herself feeling as if she should stick around for even the slightest bit longer. For some reason or another, she felt needed. And she would soon learn why. While listening to a news broadcast one night, Nadia jumped as a familiar name came across the radio: Andie Steele: missing and assumed victim of a local trafficking ring that had been growing steadily. Recalling the mistakes she had made in abandoning the people who once depended on her, Nadia was determined not to make the same mistake twice. Nadia used her knowledge of the upper levels of the trafficking rings she had once been a part of to discern whether Andie really had fallen victim to Nadia’s past lifestyle only to quickly learn that it was true. At least, in part. In her investigations, Nadia quickly learned that Andie’s estranged Father had paid the ring to find his daughter so he might bring her back to his survivalist compound she had ran from so many years ago, only to lose her once more to the seedy people he had paid. Familiar with the local leader of the ring, Nadia sprang into action, acting as an associate from Vegas in her attempts to safely move Andie out from their noses. While she plan almost worked, Nadia was eventually found out, and was forced to kill the man in charge of the whole situation in a desperate struggle for her and Andie’s life, taking out a few guards along the way.

Nadia and Andie fled, Nadia intending to return Andie home before the girl stopped her and begged a favor: let her come with Nadia. At first, Nadia thought the idea was nonsense: Andie had a home and safety. Why run from it? Andie, however, thought differently. She claimed to have come from homes where she was never really wanted, only thought of for her use or simply kept around because people felt bad for her. She didn’t know where she really came from or even who the majority of her family was, having only her father’s journal she had stolen so long ago to go off of. She was never upset about it, but always felt out of place. She believed that her disappearance would give her the perfect opportunity to finally escape from it all, relieving every one of their burdens of herself. She wanted to make something of herself, find everything she had been forced to leave behind. Something she wanted to be, before it was too late. Feeling a bit of herself in Andie’s pleas, Nadia was unable to turn the girl down. The pair set off with one another, determined to make something of themselves as they drifted from place to place. On their way, Andie asked Nadia “Why did you come for me?” to which Nadia assured “I was a stranger, and you invited me in.”( Matthew 25:35 )

On the Road and Meeting the Drifters

After setting out on the road together, Nadia and Andie found themselves bouncing from place to place in search of work and livings, often using contacts previously forged by Nadia to find occupations to sustain themselves. Andie’s ability to communicate with others as well as her wide skillset due to her trainings on the survivalist compound made her a valuable asset when it came to obtaining work as well, combining well with Nadia’s own charms, training and intelligence. When it was time to move on, the pair would often hitchhike, find buses or jump trains to get where they needed to be. The pair eventually made their way into California where they were able to find work with a former contact of Nadia’s She was hesitant to approach him for work due to his connections with her former pimp but was aware they needed the cash. Thankfully, he assured Nadia she would be safe from being identified here, and allowed the girls work in working for the city to help restore homes for the needy, a simple but work inclusive job that would provide them with room, board and money. Eventually, however, a new offer came in for the pair: the man whom had invited them onto this project was a bigger wig in a pharma industry that enjoyed some suspicious side businesses. More specifically, drug couriering. He provided them with the information that it wasn’t anything big, focusing more on Pot than anything else. Somewhat desperate for the money, the pair accepted. The girls were able to fly easily under the radar and attracted more and more hands to assisting in this side business, eventually coming into contact with a number of people who would eventually change life for the pair.
