Basic Info

Name

Waldemarr Guintholt

RP of Origin

Haynes Game 4: Call of the Void

Description

Waldemarr is a young man, around 27 years of age, which is impressive considering his many skills. He often abbreviates his name to Wally, for the convenience of his friends and colleagues. He is a flexible man in all aspects of life, comfortable in any role that is required of him, although his goal is to rise the ranks and earn the title of Captain for himself. He has a decent build, perhaps a bit on the lankier side. He stands at 6'2”, with light brown hair and blue eyes behind his small, professional looking glasses. His skin is pale white, a slight indication of all the time he's spent indoors studying. He is rarely seen wearing anything that isn't the Elysium uniform, which is almost always in impeccable condition. He has a habit of taking tasks into his own hands, which emerged when he realised he would often ask people to handle things that were out of their capabilities, which he still does from time to time, unaware of what is and isn't basic knowledge to others. He's never condescending about it, however, and always offers to teach others what it is he is doing so that they may be able to handle the task themselves.

Adventures

Wally survived the mayhem aboard the Elysium after the nightworm outbreak, fleeing on the Von Braun with Nostromo Officer Adelaide Lambert. However, when they returned to Earth, the nightworms had already arrived and set the situation against them. In the end, Wally and Adelaide chose to sacrifice themselves to save humanity by blowing up both the worms and themselves using a grenade.

Profile

The Jack-of-all-Trades

You're the smartest person on the USS Elysium. You wouldn't say that, of course, because you're also one of the most humble and team-oriented crew members on the ship, but it's true all the same.  Learning and academics were all you knew from an early age. Supportive but overzealous parents pushed you to excel at everything you could, and for the most part, you took up the mantle admirably: from biology to history, woodworking to politics, all in addition to being perfectly law-abiding of every rule and regulation, you were the wunderkind who could seemingly do no wrong. Behind the scenes, however, no one saw how hard you pushed yourself. Every night spent reading over medical journals, mathematics textbooks and statutory laws. It almost broke you; the stress and overwork leading to worse and worse panic attacks and hospital visits. Finally, you made it to college and away from the overwhelming downward pressure of your parents, and you blossomed. You realized that you didn't have to be the best at everything, and a weight was lifted from your shoulders. You continued to diversify yourself and be 'only' good at a lot of things, and this actually helped you be a more well-rounded person.

Your social life flourished as well; by having such a diverse array of interests and talents you could interact with almost any group and have something in common, and you became a bit of a socialite, excelling at communication in any circle.  The exception to this was the 'bad' crowd: the rule-breakers and anarchists of society. You never grew out of your rule-abiding phase, and you frequently butted heads with those not on the straight and narrow. You just couldn't understand how a person could be so blatantly disrespectful and ignorant of the laws that govern society, and they in turn saw you as having a stick up your ass and a holier-than-thou attitude. This was partially what led to you joining the military; a desire for order, discipline and stability. Thanks to your bevy of skills and enthusiasm for following orders you quickly rose up the ranks and became very popular, especially with other Officers, but to your annoyance you found just as many ne'er-do-wells who skirt the rules at every opportunity in the military as there were outside of it. Despite all that, you're immensely happy with your position as Communications Officer. You know you're on the fast track for becoming a Captain yourself in the next few years, and the opportunity aboard the USS Elysium is one of a lifetime.

The rumors of IDA agents among the crew and a secret hush-hush mission are concerning, but in the end it doesn't bother you too much. The IDA has the governmental authority to do precisely this and are following every regulation, you're more than happy to help them accomplish their mission, whatever it may be. In the meantime, you help out where you can, admire the beauty of space when you're not needed, and continue to keep your skills sharp at every opportunity. Whatever awaits the USS Elysium in the cosmos, they're lucky to have a man of your caliber on board.

Flying: Intermediate

Combat: Novice

Technical Repair: Intermediate

Mechanical Repair: Intermediate

Reflexes: Intermediate

Nerves: Novice

Special Skill: Well-Rounded While there's no specific skill you excel at, you more than make up for it by being proficient in a wide array of them. You're confident that there are very few tasks aboard the USS Elysium that you couldn't handle. The exceptions are combat, which you do have some schooling in but very little experience, and your nerve, where your positive and brave attitude gives you some buffer but you haven't been exposed to much in the way of traumas and horrors.

Items: Always prepared: Pick one of the six skills. You will have an item that boosts this skill in your cabin when the RP starts. Choose wisely.  Pocket Guide of Military Regulations: You always keep it with you! Good for casual reading, winning arguments and little else.

Your Greatest Fear: Thalassophobia: Fear of deep water
