Personality

Anai is soft spoken, kind, and rather calm, preferring to stay out of trouble if at all possible. She is typically optimistic and resilient. She has very good control of her emotions, logic tends to win out over spontaneity. She can be daring and fiery when the circumstances call for it, and is passionate and protective of the ones she cares about. She has hidden confidence. She is very spiritual, a devout worshipper of both Isis and Bast. She tends to be a good judge of character. Information about her past is given very sparingly. She has an independent streak and is typically unafraid to do things other women would hesitate to do. Anai fears very little. She has some basic knowledge of herbal medicines, as she was frequently the one to treat Khati's wounds during their human lives.

She is the only one able to calm her lover's at times violent temper. Due to her past experiences, she dislikes authority, though will follow it if it serves her purpose. Khati and their children are put before everything. Beyond her closest ties, Anai seems to have little attachment to anything. The lengths she would go to for those she truly cares about seem endless.

Story

Anai was born in a village named Imsera to a poor family around a feast of Isis, during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre in what would come to be known as the Fourth Dynasty. Her father was a weaver, her mother a seamstress, though the village was small enough that one of them was almost always out of work. Despite their poverty, Anai had a happy childhood.

When she was fourteen, Anai discovered that there were men who would pay her for sex, so she took that up to help support her parents. She met Khati when she was fifteen, he was seventeen, and already notorious. They maintained a business relationship for two years, then when Anai was seventeen Khati confessed that he had fallen in love with her. She returned his feelings and they ran away together, and would spend the next five years living happily.

She discovered she was pregnant with their first child only a few days before Khati's death.

Unknown to Khati, the goddess Bast had taken a mysterious interest in him and the plight of Anai and their unborn child. Through her powers, the two were reunited, and their first son Akar was born in the forest on August 14, 2013.
