CREATURES

Creature Kingdom

—unknown origin

There are various different kinds of creatures, as one of their defining characteristics is the way they're genetically structured to morph and alter other beings, sometimes even taking their form. It's difficult to identify a creature by merely looking at it, but all of them meet the same criteria:

  • Dislikes humans, usually unable to form bonds with them.
  • Capable of breding with humans, passing on mutations and abilities.
  • Omnivorous.
  • Aggressive towards animals, respectful of different creature species.

Creatures are generally unable to reproduce among themselves, hence the varying categories. Any being that is at least 50% creature will meet the criteria above; lower than that, they are more likely to behave like humans.
Their survival is not guaranteed unless they breed with humans, the only way for more 100% creatures to be born. For more information, refer to the breeding chart and the different types of creature in the other tabs. Creature always pass mutations and diseases to human beings, slowly wiping them out. If all 100% creatures of a species die, they will consequently be wiped out.

The vast majority of creatures is capable of using magical abilities, depending on what their genes have adapted to and which 100% creature they originate from. There are no known limits to their capacity, as they tend to not attack big groups of people outside of their territory. Many of them have intelligence alike to humans or above, only being ambiguous regarding emotional intelligence.

note: creature is a kingdom, along with animal, plant, fungi, protist, and monera.

100% creature

100% creature, 0% human

—result of creature female x human male

100% creatures are the original life form of creatures, not being mixed with humans. They have their full power and are a lot more dangerous. 100% creatures are needed to create more pure creatures, the species will be weaker with each offspring if the 100% creatures are no longer present. They usually act as leaders for the lesser creatures of the same species, but unlike them, they rarely socialize, hibernating for long periods of time. Not having anything in common with them, these are the creatures that understand humans less.

Priority is given to hunting down 100% creatures, so there are less of them in the wild. There will usually be one or two per gathering of lesser creatures, especially near habitable areas. It is nearly impossible for a single human to defeat one alone, they greatly overpower humans. Most 100% creatures' lifespans range from 10 years to 40 years.

Listed examples of 100% creatures:

  • "__" - 100% creature of the kat species. Female, presumably dead. Many descendants of this creature are still alive, mostly in small villages, thought some of them are even considered peaceful by law.
  • "Basement" - 100% creature of unknown species. Male, imprisoned. There are no known descendants of this creature, it is considered highly dangerous. Currently being studied by a private organization.
  • "[name]" - 100% creature of the kow species. Female, location unknown. The kow village lives peacefully not far from the kat village, their ruler is nowhere to be seen. Word is that the creature has been hibernating for years.

lesser creature

100% creature, -n30% of power

—result of creature female x creature male

Female 100% creatures breed with humans to create other 100% creatures, male 100% creatures breed with humans to create humanoid creatures with the purpose of being more attractive to humans- allowing them to be bred out of existence more easily. Female creatures are not meant to breed with male creatures, but it can happen. The result would still be a creature, but with significantly weaker power and genes (meaning it's harder for them to pass mutations onto humans,) these are called lesser creatures. Some 100% creatures are actually weakened forms of ancient creatures that can be thought of as 1000% creatures. Lesser creatures can no longer breed with other creatures.

For humans, the lesser creatures are way easier to kill, but still a threat. There are way more of them arond and dealing with hoardes can be difficult. Some of them are still solitary.

Listed examples of lesser creatures:

  • Lesser Kats - of the kat species, they have taken forms similar to cats and even co-habitate with them. They are docile for the most part, but still creatures, as the ones pictured in the image are the fathers of other characters.
  • Lesser Crufkis - of the crufk species, a very weakened creature headed towards extinction. They pierce their targets like needles and suck out the blood, and move incredibly fast.
  • Mother - of the fastling species, a solitary kind of lesser creature. This particular individual (yellow) is known to block entrances of the cave that leads to Morning City.

creature deform

+50% creature, -50% human

—result of creature male x human female, and lesser creature x human

Creature deform is the name of the trait posessed by beings that are more creature than human, being essentially a creature with humanoid morphology. They still fit the criteria for creatures and are raised as creatures mimicking human mannerisms. Most creature deform live in villages along with lesser creatures of the same species. They can be more open to humans at first, but it's in their nature to not grow fond of them.

Humans don't actively hunt creature deform, as they are not an urgent threat. There are people who argue they should be treated as humans, there are people who argue they should be killed, and there are people of higher power trying to "domesticate" some of them. Most of them live close enough to humans, being able to learn their language. It's illegal for humans to have any bond with them, with the rare exception of species of which the creature genes have been watered down enough for them to be docile.

Listed examples of creture deform:

  • Bruma - of the kow species. Resident of Kow Village, they have kow characteristics such as horns, ears, and a tail. Their power comes from the kow's high physical strenght.
  • Sigrini - of the kat species. Resident of Kat Village. This species is unusually docile, making their humanity debatable.
  • Shivvar - of the kat species. A rare example of when a 100% creature breeds with a shapeshifter (technically human,) making the offspring a lot more creature-like. He is Sigrini's father.

animal deform

+50% human, -50% animal

—result of animal deform / creature deform / human deform mix

Animal deform is the name given to the trait posessed by human beings that are partially creatures, only having a few traits. They do not count as creatures since they function as humans. Most of them are raised among humans, but there are some that grow up with creature deform and become hostile towards humans.

Socially, they tend to be looked down upon by both humans and creatures, but can still live decent lives among either. They can still pass the deform gene so it's illegal for them to have relationships with humans, as it's encouraged by creatures for them to breed with humans. Note: They're referred to as animal deform, but they're not directly related to animals. Some creatures have animal traits and they're more likely to understand humans.

Listed examples of animal deform:

  • Fransa - of the [name] species. They grew up with their human mother in a small town, being unusually kind to both creatures and people. Their father is a creature deform they never met.
  • Aveia - of the kow species. She grew up in a creature village, the creature deform were harder on him for his inherent human nature.
  • Lobby - of the pird species. She has very few creature genes and deeply resents how it still gave her an enormous disadvantage in society.

deform

+50% human, -50% creature

—any humans with creature genes

"Deform" is the name of the gene carried and passed on by creatures; essentially, it merges their other genes with human genes. To be animal deform or creature deform, humans need enough deform genes to be able to handle the creature genes, or else they will have complications. A simple example: a creature with big eyes, the human's skull is not made to fit the eyes, their eyes will grow too big and pop out. This usually only happens with humans that have very few creature genes, although there are many of them due to humans being more willing to breed with creatures that look similar to them.

The vast majority of humans that are part-creature have visible creature traits, tests can be done to determine for sure though, there are always exceptions to things.

Listed examples of deform:

  • Darian - of the [name] species. He has very few creature genes, which made teeth grow in place of his left hand.
  • Aflutaria - of the [name] species. Her creature genes resulted in her having vertical eyes and another set of veins. On the bright side, she can play music with her hair.
  • Ryrrviusaimo - of unknown species. He couldn't know what species' genes he has, but it did give him a variety of illnesses.

shapeshifter

100% creature, 90% human

—rare result of creature male x human female

Shapeshifters are creatures able to take on a human form, not considered the other way as they still have creature instincts. The number of shapeshifters is not certain, as many of them spend their lifes in only one form. Their human form, however, is never fully human as they keep creature traits. Shapeshifters can only shift between their original species and a human form, as those are the only genes they possess.

Male 100% creatures usually don't look after their offspring, and birthing shapeshifters will usually kill the human mother, it's speculated to be the reason for them to be so rare. Along with that, most shapeshifters who have spoken to humans relate having no memories of their parents. An unique trait of shapeshifters is that they imprint on a single individual, be it a creature or a human. The correlation between this and the previous statements is not clear.

Listed examples of shapeshifter:

  • Crumell - of the dragon species. She is a very peaceful shapeshifter who works at a small town, guarding the tower along with her three brothers who are also dragons, but not shapeshifters.
  • [name] - of the [name] species. He lives in a small town where creatures are not allowed, pretending to be a human. Even so, he prefers to spend his time as a creature when he's alone.
  • [name] - of the [name] species. She's a powerful shapeshifter who can turn herself into a labyrinth.

perfect child

???

—rare result of creature female x human male

The usual result of this match is usually a 100% creature, however, a creature's genes might not be compatible enough with the human, resulting in a completely human child. With time, they develop creature morphology, but remain human. There is a catch: they have the power to enhance creature traits in already matured humans. Creatures tend to kill the humans they mate with, and don't know how to care for a full one, so most perfect children die as they are born in the wild.

Their power seems more useful to creatures to make their genes stronger, however, that doesn't give them the creature mentality. Humans have started capturing perfect children to make their own powerful enough to hunt them, that's why people with the deform gene are sent to fight creatures after having their power enhanced by the local perfect child. Each one has their own way to do so.

On the flip side- humans who don't have any deform genes are called perfect humans, they are not allowed to be near creatures at all and generally recieve a lot more benefits. Killing a perfect human or a perfect child is punishable by death.

Listed examples of perfect children:

  • Zuuvildelma - of Farewell. The perfect child kept at the top of a tower, humans who are deemed strong enough recieve power from them to go on to hunt creatures.
  • Chilyuneicle - of Morning. Contrary to the previous one, they are allowed to rule the city as long as they still remain within the borders and grant humans power.
  • Luzia - of Sun. She stays at the border around a major city, granting power to those who are able to reach it at all.
