-He first thinks he has the ability to breath under water, like his father. Later he slowly finds out how he is rather able to control the water. With a lot of training - an almost failing school because of it - he masters this ability.
-His father is never home because of his job. So he is alone all day with no friends.
-He is a bit of an asshole
