Story

Dia wasn't essentially a spirit at the beginning.

Long ago, she was originally born a human, the only child to a very poor pair of farmers living in a small town. Back then, the couple was wallowing in poverty, and they didn't manage to furnish anything for themselves in life; from the land they use for farming to the very clothes they wore, all of it was either on loan, or donated by people generous enough to give away any extra belongings. The only thing that they could claim as their own was their precious daughter, and they loved and cared for her very much. She was their treasure, and they worked more than double the time and effort just to provide for her needs, as well as to ensure a bright future for her, to ensure that she would be successful in life, unlike them.

All of it started paying off little by little. Their daughter was growing up to be a wonderful person. She had impeccable manners, and she was adored by everyone. In school, she excelled. She was very intelligent, and she was also blessed with many talents. The only thing they noted was that she was a bit too serious for her age, but as long as she was happy and content, then all was well.

Dia was a hardworker in all that she did. Whether it may be chores, schoolwork, or other matters, she would give her all to ensure a highly acceptable result. Back then, her greatest ambition in life was to grow up and be an adult fast, so she would be able to help with work and lessen the load on her parents, and she strived and worked hard day by day to achieve that goal. This kind of mature attitude coupled with her bright and bubbly personality endeared her to everyone, and they all thought she would be a very great person in the future.

Sometimes, her classmates in school asked the occassional question: when will she have a birthday that they could attend. She never really had a big celebration on her birthday. They couldn't afford to hold one, so the answer was always a no. Imagine her surprise when, one day, the townsfolk visited their home and said they were willing to hold a celebration for her fifth birthday. They realized that for the past four years, she never had a proper celebration and it just wouldn't do, so they all decided they would celebrate it with her family together this year. She happily and tearfully accepted, all the while thanking the gods for all the blessings she received up to that moment. They may be dirt poor, but they were surrounded with wonderful people. From that point on was a busy time in the town. Everywhere was bustling with activity. Food, decorations, music, games, all of it was planned for weeks. It was going to be a big event. They were going to hold a huge party and they wanted to make sure everything goes well.

On the night before her birthday, her parents approached her. It wasn't fair if they didn't have a gift while the townsfolk prepared a party for her, so they saved up on one: a necklace. They, as family, should be the first people to give a present to her, so they decided to give it now. Dia was overjoyed - it was the best present she received and it was worth more than anything anyone else would give her. As she went to sleep she wore it, looking forward to a great day tomorrow.

One hour before she turned five, she and her family lost their lives.

It was a tragic death. While everyone was sleeping, a group of highly drunk men wandered in their town. They were delinquents, and they came to town thinking of causing trouble. They forcefully went inside the first house they set eyes on - Dia's house. They beat up her parents to death with a wooden club. Moving on to Dia, they eyed the necklace she wore and they wanted it. Now. Someone pulled the necklace from behind hard, choking her little by little, before they decided to break her neck. From there all she remembered was an endless stretch of black.

In a short span of time, something happened. She found herself being approached by two purple looking things. Dark spirits. They were drawn to her and they had an offer for her. She could pass on in the afterlife where all mortal spirits go, or, she could join them as their little sister and roam the world as a dark spirit. After asking for both pros and cons of each option, she decided to join them. The spirits were very happy, and they extended their aura to her. In an instant, she found herself back into the mortal realm, but this time, she had a body. They told her they knew of what she wanted in life, and so they gave her a body with looks akin to what she would've looked like as a grown up. Together they roamed the world as wandering spirits, and maintained balance and order between other spirit entities and mortals. All while having fun along the way.

Sometime during her travels, she encountered a terrible event. A murder. It was just a single man, but he wiped out an entire family. She wandered into the house alone, just as the man was in the process of killing a small boy and she, remembering what happened to her and her human family, felt very angry. Her emotions became out of sorts, and it caused her abilities to lash out and attack the culprit. It incapacitated the man and alerted the neighbors to what was going on. Once her brothers found her, the police already arrested the culprit and brought the poor boy to the hospital. The entities inhabiting the house all thanked her for what she did, no matter if it was accidental, and they good-naturedly and affectionately called her a diamond woman, thinking of how she sparkled like one. Dia thought it very nice of them, and she adopted it as her nickname. She had never shared her real name, even to her brothers, so she decided it will do. In the years that passed, 'Diamond' became shortened to just 'Dia'.

She and her brothers continue to circle the world to this day.

Relationships
Ansel and Detel | Brothers

Dia is really close with her brothers. She owes her second chance at living (ironically as a spirit) to the both of them and is eternally grateful for the kindness they gave her. Conversely, Ansel and Detel view Dia as their precious baby sister and will beat up anyone who even dares to make her cry. Their bond is unbreakable and they are always together. The three of them like to play pranks all the time and just generally have fun.

When Dia disguises as a human, Ansel and Detel mostly disguises themselves as two big onions and they hide in her pockets.
