“Strange guy. At the very least, he likes my cooking. I do make a kickass fish dish though, so that’s a given. I get the nagging feeling that he wants to bite me, so I’m just a little on guard, that’s all.”
"As nice as he smells, I don't have much an interest in eating him... He is a human and I should dislike him on that alone but... he is nice. Yuck... I loathe having feelings sometimes. Reo is not so bad, especially when he makes fish. Do not tell him that I like him because then I will have to kill him, which I don't want to do. At all. Ugh."
“The secret to my cooking? It’s quite simple…maybe after a nap I’ll consider sharing it. Heh, but thank you, Sabrann. The world isn’t so bad with you in it.”
"Reo, my dear! You must give me that recipe for that fish you made. I haven't been able to stop thinking about the taste. Not a thing I cook has been able to resonate with me as deeply as that dish has. What is the secret ingredient? I've tried nearly everything in my pantry and nothing seems to have the same effect!"
“Feeling’s mutual. So keep you and your fox away. You know better than to underestimate me.”
"Danying can threaten you all she likes, I don't give a shit. I won't chase after you and I certainly don't want to see you again. If we ever cross paths, Reo... You already know what will happen. May the best fighter win."
“This knife isn’t for you — it’s for the vegetables I need to cut. Now, I think it would be wise for you to get a move on before I decide to use it on something else. Your voice gives me a headache.”
"My friend, my friend! You know better than to pull a knife on me. After all, it was you who provided me with such a marvelous array of test subjects for my devices! Run from your past as much as you'd like, you'll never get that redemption that you seek. Especially not with Meihua existing in the same world as you."
“Sparring? I guess it wouldn’t hurt. I’m a little out of practice though…” Reo fully intended to go as hard as he could.
“You down for a quick spar? I’ve been itching for a good fight you look pretty damn good at fighting!” “𝘖𝘩 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘨𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩. 𝘐 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘪𝘧 𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘵”
"Reo is absolutely wonderful! A more than talented chef and, not that it had to be mentioned, a nice sight. I love running into him whenever I visit home."
"Tevvi's not the strangest person I have met, but she's far from normal. Doesn't matter to me know. She keeps things lively when she visits. Plus, she always brings an appetite, which is always welcome."
"Ionia's a little bit out of the way from the places I usually visit, but I'd make time to visit there if Reo asked! Especially if there was gonna be food! I wonder if his favorite color is purple.. Maybe I'll give him like a bunch of purple headbands as a thanks!"
“She’s got good stuff and is pretty nice when we talk. That’s all. And yes, I know he’s there.”
"I give him herbs sometimes, though we don't speak much. I like it that way. Do you think he notices the cat guy in the trees watching him?"
“You’re strange; but you seem all right. You feeling hungry?”
"Oh! OH! That's not-- That's! Hm!" She manages to stifle her laughter as she looks over Reo. "Sorry, sorry man! You just look a lot like some people I've met. I'm a little weird, I know, I know. Anyways, you seem pretty chill! Any chance we could hang?" Oh, her mother was going to love hearing about this when she got home.
“She’s pretty good at what she does. I think she could use a little more focus though, especially when in the kitchen. I wouldn’t mind showing her a few tricks, but I think her pride is besting her in that regard. Oh well. I’ll just continue to be the cooking champ.”
"I hate him. I hate him. I hate him. We were once opponents in an Ionian cooking competition and I was somehow bested by him! I managed to place second but that does not matter to me! My father was in the audience. Do you think he would accept such failure? Well. He did but that is far from the point! I even tasted his dish and it was subpar. So subpar that I had to have multiple servings to ensure that other people did not consume it. I can still taste it... Yucky!"
“It’s a good feeling when others praise you for changing your ways and leaving your past behind. They call it honorable. I just wish I could feel that way. Regardless, it’s really something to be favored by a god, huh?”
"Abandoning your past and moving foreward is a form of motion greatly respected by my goddess. For that alone, he has gained her favor. And he has gained my favor for those delicious carrot pastries! What a treat!"
“I get underestimated quite often. I’m used to it. Dilnura was not an easy opponent to beat, but I'm satisfied that I pulled through. She wasn’t too happy about it, but no hard feelings. I’m sure she appreciated the treats.”
"Hmph. We will not speak of how he managed to best me in combat. I was feeling ill that day and was at a disadvantage; not to mention it was far from an official bout. The sesame candy he sends as a peace offering is delicious however."
Reo had an amused look in his eyes. “Unfortunately, I’m not available to order at this time, but I’ve got some hot, deep-fried pork cutlets incoming.”
"Hey, purple-head! What's on the menu today? Me and my friend here are absolutely famished!" She pets Dhaval as he slithers down her arm. "Yesss, positively famished! Are you on the menu, handsome?" Anjali promptly smacks Dhaval on the head with a gentle tap. "Dhaval!"
Reo’s eyes narrowed, but only for a moment. He seemed to shrug off the fact that she read him so correctly. Perhaps his silence was enough to show her that she was correct. He nodded his head and spoke gently to her. “I’ll throw in a few extra for you. On the house.”
"I sense regret in you... A deep sense of regret. It attempts to consume you and yet you press on. You radiate a sense of honor. Your emotions are calm and confident above the crushing regret, you are stronger than people give you credit for." She looks over his collection of baked goods and points to the box of sesame seed cookies. "I will take those. Thank you for your time, friend."
