Alex

Alejandra Maria deLuna has been going through a particularly stressful time in life. After being expelled in the middle of her senior year, she doesn't have much hope for her future as the students in her classes all cram for exams and submit their college applications. Things at home haven't been the best either. Her parents are constantly arguing with each other and she senses they will be filing for divorce soon. Her older sister who has been her best friend for most of her life has recently gotten married and is about to leave to another state.

During this time, she finds solace in a new friend. Father Matthew Schumann has arrived in town and her parents go to him occasionally for something similar to marriage counseling. After having spent some time together, she develops a crush on him.

Alex tends to be very quiet and withdrawn-most see her as aloof. She experiences an almost constant state of anxiety throughout the story, but internalizes it so well, until she finally breaks during confession. She wears an almost permanent resting bitch face except when she's laughing or crying and can be intimidating without meaning to be. 

Her hobbies include sports such as soccer, softball, basketball, cross-country and tennis. She can be extremely competitive.  She plays acoustic guitar (which she learned from her older brother Johnny). Most often, she spends her recreational time playing video games. Sometimes with her brother, sometimes not. Oh, and she's in charge of taking the dog (a German Shepherd named Maxine) on walks.
