Axel's Links
Stein's stuck up, opinionated, and has a terrible superiority complex. He feels like he can just push anyone around and quite frankly Axel resents it. He doesn't think of him as much of a friend, or at least, he didn't for a long time. It took him forever to let his guard down and settle into the role of a follower. That was the only way to keep the peace, even if he hates it sometimes.
"..."
Stein thinks Axel is a bit strange. It feels like a weird power struggle between the two of them. Stein feels like struggling with that should be the least of their problems. Nonetheless, he still thinks of Axel as a friend, and is willing to defend him, just like Adella.
Scrap was Axel's master for the last few years of his captivity. He hates him, and he's made him do disgusting, vile things. He'd have loved to have seen him dead when they escaped, but unfortunately the lack of proper planning didn't allow for it. Given the chance, he can't say he'd even remotely hesitate to dispose of him regardless of the circumstances.
"Just as bad as the other two."
Scrap didn't exactly mind Axel-- he was a good fighter and for the most part obedient. That a changed when Stein decided to rebel, and made Axel one of the main reasons he got knocked out. Does he feel bad Axel's body got used? A bit. Does he forgive him for joining Stein? Absolutely not. He should've just stayed like a good boy.
