Young, withdrawn and humble girl known for her wise and simultaneously unsettling, piercing gaze. Such distinctive feature of hers wasn’t acquired by an accident. Renee descends from an old kin which unique ability of prophesying runs in some of the family’s children genes - she was one of them. Despite the smaller households spreading around the whole continent over time, the tradition of handing on the elder knowledge for the heir of the prophetic power still remains. When the time has come, she was ordered to return to her parents’ hometown, where the previous heir was living - it was the eldest woman of the village. Since her days were already counted, Renee had to obtain the elder knowledge before the woman’s death. She left Novigrad right after receiving the message and started her unusual studies in a small land near the Oxenfurt city.⠀▽⠀Renee is a sympathetic girl who always knows what to say to brighten someone’s mood. However, she emanates some kind of aura which dismays people. Because of that, she was able to have friends only for a really short period of time, everyone eventually became too anxious to remain in touch with her. It did not bother her too much though, she enjoyed spending time on her own.⠀▽⠀Renee was deeply interested in playing violin. She fell in love with its sounds the day she visited main market square in Novigrad for the first time. A group of bards was giving a lovely performance of the local tavern music. It enravished her enough to try playing violin by herself. Now she gives performances on the streets or in taverns from time to time. Unfortunately, she cannot stand out from the crowd too much due to repressions of the witch hunters. She was not an average citizen, after all.

▽⠀A small blackbird is often seen near her. This particular animal is the symbol of something that arouses hidden potential and brings back faith in ourselves, it reminds us who we really are. That is the exact role of Renee in Laurentius’ life. She made him open up towards people once again and cured him from his never-ending loneliness. ▽⠀Title of her theme does not reflect reality. ▽⠀Her main outfit consists of old Laurentius’ clothes. Since she lost most of her belongings before ‘moving in’ to his place, they had to improvise. Wanda altered them so they would fit her subtle figure.

The Beginning
Renee’s family belongs to an old kin in which children with prophetic abilities are constantly being born. The gift passes randomly on a newborn child. Only one prophet can live at the time. In the beginning, all of the households were living close to each other in one area. With time passing by, things have changed and the smaller families started to spread around the whole continent, looking for suitable place to live. Renee’s parents settled in Novigrad. She was born there and was having an ordinary life for 22 years. ▽ Despite the families splitting off, the tradition of handing on the elder knowledge for the heir of the prophetic power still remained. The previous heir was slowly dying and the identity of new one was not known yet. Heads of the whole kin began the search. It did not take them too long to find out that Renee was the chosen child. She was immediately ordered to return to the village where the previous prophet was living. Her parents were not surprised, they were speculating whether she has the gift for a long time. Without objections, she left Novigrad a few days after receiving the message. ▽ The education began right after her arrival. The prophet turned out to be the eldest women of the village. She was teaching her things that were long forgotten by the rest of the population already. Their knowledge was strictly guarded, only members of the kin were aware of the things included in ancient books, which could have been read only by the heir of the gift. Renee was gaining knowledge mainly about the history of her kin, old legends and myths containing useful information about many areas of the continent, and characteristics of the rare monsters, herbs and extinct species. ▽ While she was living in the village, she kept in touch with her parents through letters. Everything seemed to be fine, until messages started to come in much wider time gaps. Renee’s concern started to rise. People of her kin have uncontrollable power which is visible for the mages. It is not dangerous in any aspect, however, it still can be sensed by the people who have expertise in magical environment. It became problematic after the start of the repressions of the witch hunters. Many innocent people died because of them, and Renee’s parents could have been suspected of practising magical rituals. The last letter she received from them was their last goodbye. ▽ Unfortunately, all of the things her parents left in the house were enough information to locate the rest of the family by Witch Hunters. Killing two potential mages did not satisfy them enough, they organised expedition and started the search. A few days later location of the village was known. The moment they arrived, the assault began. Everything has burst into flames, Hunters did not spare anything and anyone. The villagers were being brutally killed one after another, they could not do anything. All of the ancient books and scrolls were burnt without hesitation. Nothing has remained. ▽ Suddenly, two higher vampires showed up. They were visibly infuriated. Having understood what have just happened, they immediately avenged the death of the villagers, since they had a very important trade to offer them. They were searching for the information of the location of unseen elder vampires in the area near Oxenfurt. The only one place where the information could have been found, was now turned into ashes. While discussing what they should do next, they discovered that they were not alone. Someone was crawling out of the house wreckage. It was Renee, she somehow managed to survive the onslaught. She was terribly frightened and hurt. One of the vampires instinctively rushed in her direction, about to attack. She saw their vampire forms, he could not have let the witness live. However, he stopped when she spoke to him in different dialect than the local one. She asked him rather calmly if he was a higher vampire. Astounded by her knowledge and mentioned earlier dialect, he nodded. He decided to hear what she has to say first. Renee thanked for the unaware rescue, both for him and the woman standing a few steps behind. She asked what they were doing in such cloistered place, assuming that they were living in the city as well. The man stayed silent for a moment, but eventually answered her question. He told her that they are looking for the old writings containing information about their race. The woman standing behind scowled at him. She could not believe that he was telling such discreet things to a stranger. The man ignored her however and continued conversation with the girl. He felt that not everything is lost. Even if he was wrong, he could simply kill her with a single swing of his arm. Renee replied with the sadness in her tone, that they have nothing to search here anymore. Everything was ruined. Irritated woman hissed at the man once again and ordered him to end girl’s ‘case’. He rose his arm reluctantly, ready to attack. When he was about to kill her, he stopped with his arm mid-air in an instant when she began to plead him to spare her. She explained that the Witch Hunters came after her because of the death of her parents, and it’s only a matter of time until the next group arrives. Of course, only if she does not starve or die of infection in her hurt leg before that. She begged him to help her and asked whether there is a chance of him letting her live at his place for some time. She had nobody. The man thought she is crazy at first. However, he misestimated the situation again. Renee seeing grimace on his face, quickly added that she might help them with their problem. She introduced herself as the Heir of the Prophetic Power and explained why she has left the city and came here. Since she has started her learning, she might know some useful information already. However, if not, she knows where they should search for them. The man agreed to her conditions. Yet, the woman who was quiet for the whole time, added one more - Renee was forbidden to leave his house and meet anyone from the outside.
