backstory - wip

Prince Roy is the second son of the current king of his nation, the Sun Nation. He was born and raised in the capital. Growing up as the second son, Roy did not have to worry about taking the throne since his older brother was the successor. However, he still had to abide by the rules of the palace. He was an obedient child, the royal family, servants and other people around him had always pampered him, spoiling him with presents whenever they could. As a young child, Roy was very timid and shy and would often speak with a low voice. The boy was even afraid of punishments, which was part of the reason why he was so obedient. All of that started to change when he first met his swordsmanship instructor, who just so happened to be teaching him without a permit. A few weeks into training, Roy gained some confidence and found that he really loved sword fighting and enjoyed hearing his instructors stories of when he used to travel around the country. In that moment, Roy begged him to show him around town as he couldn't go out all by himself. After getting permission, his instructor would take Roy along with him every other week, showing him how the people of his nation lived their lives. It was fascinating, he enjoyed sightseeing and talking to the citizens. 

In those three months, Roy became even more confident and started to show signs of rebellion. Some of the people in the palace blamed the instructor for Roy's behavior, but it was all up to Roy. He simply got tired of being obedient and following all the rules. It felt restricting and it felt like he wasn't being himself.
