Aibreann (April)

Aibreann is Selvatico's love interest and the girl he runs away with at the end of White Rose. He has been trying to find his way back to her during his journey of manipulation.

Backstory

She was born at the Ring of Kerry in a small farmhouse. As she gotten older she moved to the Dingle Penninsula with her four friends. Each of them would raid farmers' property for food. Three of them died during the famine. She survived by eating bugs. She finally goes on a journey/trip to search for her half sisters.

She has some relation to Ida, which explains why Ida is later intertwined with the royal families.

Story Roadmap

Aibreann has:

• Grown up in the care of her three sisters. They tried to all provide for her but they fought over rations and found life difficult. They had some good times, like playing hide and seek in the backyard or in town.
• She was playing hide and seek with her sisters in town when she noticed people were heading towards the town square.
• She saw Selvatico in town square and listened to him talk about how dragons will burn the town unless they bow to him. It was a ballsy move that worked. Everyone bowed to him. Aibreann saw him as a way out of poverty. When he was done she quickly rushed to him and started flirting.
• He liked her daring introduction (low-key she was panicking BAD on the inside) and decided to make her his Other. He stated he would need a native to get him into the town's good graces.
• She loved the dresses he would commission for her. She hoped their lavish life would last forever. His rule lasted for a year when a bigger, rugged and threatening dragon drove him away with his brute strength and claimed the town for himself. Another dragon, this one smarter, thinner and green, usurped the town from the brute dragon. Selvatico tried to get it back but the green dragon had the towns people rally to his aid.
• Aibreann told him to let it go and that she would rather go home to his (rich) family in Rome. Selvatico, enraged, decided no one should keep the town. He burned all of it, with the two dragons watching in disappointment. The two banded together and saved what was left by pinning and mauling Selvatico.
• He was imprisoned and Aibreann decided to stay in the town with the two dragons to help survivors rebuild.
• They do meet again...eventually. Except she is not the age he expected.
