Epiphany

Epiphany named herself for the very circumstance that created her - a realization! A thought, a singular thought - that is, a piece of the shadow elemental hivemind, spontaneously developing a sense of selfhood, and largely detaching from the whole.

Epiphany was created not-so-spontaneously, actually - you see, shadow elementals, they kind of... well, when something falls out of use, whether it be a body, an object - when something becomes abandoned in the world of Element - that's when the collective moves in and assimilates it. But once upon a time, a living person -- a young girl -- was assimilated by accident. The collective agonized, trying to make up for this transgression to the family - though truly, a life is irreplaceable. This was a very, very long time ago... and one day, a string of thought came together just so, within the collective, and thought: "I."

And there was Epiphany.
