Kouta is an extremely kind person, going out of his way to help strangers with anything he notices they might need help with. But he's no pushover, upon seeing anyone being rude or cruel to people who don't deserve it, he will confront them immediately and boldly, seeming practically fearless against anyone of any size once he gets scolding. He's been known to befriend people he once deemed mean, showing that he doesn't harbor ill will to anyone specifically, just their actions, and believes almost anyone can become a good person with enough work and kindness.
His small stature and weak body usually leaves him a prime target for bullies and attackers of any kind, but he isn't one to shy away from a fight and will use any little dirty trick he can to get the upper hand. Though he's not stupid. If he realizes he can't take someone himself, he'll make for a run for it in search or help, usually running to Jo, or Ro, the latter if the situation is more dire.
- Usually the responsible friend, he can be incredibly childish at times, getting giddily excited over new releases or merchandise for things he's a fan of and babbling about it as much as he's allowed to to his friends.
- He's extremely good at sneaking up on people without even trying, scaring people just by greeting them half the time.
- Not the best at climbing or staying up in trees, but he does his best in order to climb in through friends' windows on 2nd stories or higher.
- He has a terrible sense of balance.
- He swears a bit, but any swear that comes out of his mouth is typically covered by a media beep censor, thanks to a certain someone who won't leave him alone.
- Possesses a weak immune system from problems he had when he was a baby. He gets sick easily and hates it every dang time.

Born prematurely with a ton of issues because of it, Ko had a rocky childhood filled with sick days home and being scolded any time he climbed out his window on rainy days to play in the mud. He continued to do it anyway, rather getting sick another week and having some fun over staying inside all day.
Ko loves his mother to no end and is not afraid of showing it, but has a rocky relationship with his divorced father.
His appearance lacks similarities to the rest of his family, his small size and grey coloring being notable differences from his ginger furred and large stature family. He has a strained relationship with his father because of this, along with their clashing personalities, his father consistently claiming that the two bear no resemblance both physically and personality wise, and that Kouta must be an illegitimate child and not someone he need care for. Ko believes he is one of the main reasons his parents divorced, and harbors the blame on himself.
Despite all this, he has a shining outlook on life, deciding he'd rather be content where he is than let it get him down. He enjoys going for walks around the city and helping people he might stumble on, whether it be helping an old lady with her groceries to her car, or defending someone against a bully. Anyone who's met him would describe his personality as fiery and full of light, something he quietly comments on being ironically said.
