    Before she was Martha, she was Ying, a young mermaid who was fascinated by the surface world, specifically the fertile lands. There was something interesting to her on how different parts of the surface gather the food they need to live. Although, there was this awkward moment, where she didn't know what came out of a cow, and when she knew she felt embarrassed for even knowing and tried to wrap her mind around how it worked. At age 18, she wanted to try to bring how the surface does farming and bring it to Aquinous. She didn't really know how, so she went to a magic user to help her.

    The magic user knew extremely little about farming on the surface but the user thought he grabed what she meant and went to work on a potion. The magic user gave it to Ying, only for it to greatly change her, making her sound different, bigger breasts and even horns on her head. Problem was that the magic user only heard and understood the cow part and the potion was permanent. At first, she was furious but after about a week, she kinda liked it (and the little attention she was getting). But, during that time, the "magic feds" started tailing her, almost focusing on her. She got the feeling that they wanted to help change her back, but she preferred this new form (they don't take that for an answer since some potions have hypnosis properties to them)

    The only way she could get around this, was to get rid of her old identity and get a new one, by keeping her name as her middle name, switching to Martha, and having to do a lot more paperwork. Now, she's happily working at a local tavern. She sometimes moos when she gets happy/excited, but often blushes after doing so. She still likes the attention she gets, often showing off when she feels like it.
