Something strange is happening in a small provincial town. A young man, recently returned from the army, discovered that his hometown is not what it seems. People began to behave very strangely, and some of those whom he has known since childhood seem no longer themselves. At the same time, his older brother, who led the family business after their parents' death, was found dead deep in the woods. Time ago, he wrote to the young man about the strange things, which started taking place in the town, but young soldier thought that these "fantasies" were not a big deal. Now, the young man blames himself in his only brother death and trying to figure out what is really going on in their hometown. A long time ago, his grandfather told him about a friend he met in his young days, this friend possessed some kind of "unusual abilities". Founded the contacts in his grandfather's personal things stored in the attic, the young man calls the number that was in use long ago. And on the doorstep of his house instead of the long-dead psychic appears his only grandson who has the same unusual gift. With himself he has only a battered suitcase and a birdcage with a devil-black cat sitting inside. To investigate these mysterious circumstances happening in the town Mr. Isaac Faraday, and his phlegmatic cat named Behemoth have to go deep into the woods.
