RATS is a type of magician that can travel the omniverse. They are an 'ascended' human, who abandoned their mortal shell. In particular, RATS wanders the multiverse on whimsical adventures... They are content just to exist in a form that can walk and talk, something their human body could not do. They often take on the form of a black cat, because they associate their human form with their human body's disability.
RATS was once a human, with a problem: They could not move. Paralyzed from early in their childhood, RATS was bedridden and felt like a burden. They struggled to reach out to friends and were miserable throughout school, because they could not attend classes normally. All they could do was sit in the hospital and think.
At least a mind is a powerful tool. The human RATS would daydream constantly. Their mind was not constrained by their body and could go anywhere, and to any land. It was in their daydreams that they at least thought they first met a being called SPECK. Speck took the human on many adventures and showed them things they couldn't imagine on their own. RATS' imagination grew stronger and was so trained that it was practically magic.
One day, RATS wondered why they ever left their imagination. In their dreams, they could do anything. There was nothing in Reality worth returning to. So on one trip, when Speck offered to take them home, RATS declined the offer. Speck was thrilled and taught RATS more magic. Soon, RATS could travel between worlds on their own. They did not care if this was a real, omniversal ability to travel between realities, or if it was all a dream... They were happy this way.
Speck gave RATS the name Star, but RATS decided to turn it backwards. They continue to travel now... Meanwhile, their human body is comatose and cannot wake up unless RATS decides to go home.
