Xanie is the one that found Astor, a lost traveler whose outdated ship was failing, and brought them to the Hub. Xanie believes Astor has a lot of potential, and has calculated just how close they need to be kept, and how in the loop they should be. For now, they are letting Astor experience other worlds and see them for all their potential- good and bad. By exposing them to enjoyable and dangerous situations, the rookie traveler will hopefully be able to understand the importance of keeping the multiverse safe, as well as the challenges that come with that task.
And, perhaps, if they happen to prove to be an asset to the Hub itself, Xanie wouldn't mind officially taking them under their wing. But to do that, Astor would need to learn to stop asking questions.
