Profile
Amalra Minolin grew up in the underdark, as most Drow do. He was a lawful evil sorcerer and he moved to the surface only due to orders from his city. However, during his years on the surface, a series of events led to him cutting ties with his city and changing who he was as a person for the better.
They go almost exclusively by their last name, Minolin. Some people may also call them Min.
Appearance
Minolin stands at 5'10'' tall and weighs about 140 lbs. He's still on the slender side, but maybe not quite as much as many elves tend to be. He has extremely light blonde hair, almost white, and purplish-grey skin. Off duty, he often dresses semi-formal, and when going on adventures he typically has an assortment of various trinkets with him.
- Long, pointy ears that can angle up/down depending on emotion
- Strands of hair in the front are significantly longer than the rest of his hair and are angled at the bottom
- Chonky bangs, only on the one side
- Eye shape is more narrow, less round
- Sharp canine teeth
- Pointy fingernails, basically like small claws
Personality
In the past he was Lawful Evil, now he's True Neutral(?).
Minolin is reserved and often untrusting of those that he does not know, believing that many people would either like him harmed/gone or only that they want something from him. Due to this distrust he has a very low tolerance for interactions with strangers, and very easily gets annoyed or put on edge/defense by them. This can cause him to come off as cold or rude to many, which doesn't help the various prejustices he faces as a Drow. This is a pretty nasty cycle for him because in turn he distrusts strangers more, since they often look down on him without knowing him at all. He doesn't like giving out information about himself to strangers unless it's necessary, and most people don't even know his first name, as he always introduces himself by his last.
He's capable of working with others, even those that he does not know well, if there is a common goal in mind or if he's getting something out of it. Despite his distrust in others, he understands that teaming up is sometimes the most efficient way to get something done. He always tries his best to keep up his end of a deal/keep true to his word, and would not purposely betray someone without extremely good reason to do so.
He thrives on new knowledge and mental challenges, and enjoys learning more about a variety of topics.
He's trying to do good and become a better person, but he has a twisted idea of what is right or wrong due to his upbringing. Growing up in the underdark also caused him to have various prejustices of his own towards races other than Drow, but he's slowly starting to unlearn what he's been taught. He puts little value in life that he doesn't know personally, and cannot grasp why others typically care about strangers or their well being.
Does what it takes to survive, but he's a bit of a coward and will turn tail if things are going too far south. Can be pretty easily made nervous.
With those few he's close to, Minolin shows a much more caring and considerate side. His life revolves around his family and what he wants most is to keep them safe and for them to have a happy life. They're probably the only people he would sacrifice his own well being for without hesitation and with no regrets.
Minolin has always had a soft spot for children, and hates seeing them hurt or upset.
Trivia
- Most people only know him by his last name, Minolin.
- ((Not sure if this is homebrew or not honestly)) Certain Paladins or Clerics may be able to passively detect the fact that Minolin has the capability of using darker magic types ((such as necromancy)) just by being near him. This effect is amplified by the fact that he is a sorcerer, and therefore more innately knows how to use this type of magic. Other magic users may also be able to figure this out if they're purposely trying to pry.

History
Minolin lived in the underdark for the majority of his life, coming to the surface only due to the orders of his city. He did their biddings for them on the surface, whatever it was that they told him to do. However, being on the surface and away from his city, he began to get a little taste of freedom. He started doing more of what he wanted, though always followed along with what the city wanted him to do as well. Most of the projects he took up on his own also fell onto the "evil" side of things, but nevertheless he was gaining a stronger sense of independence.
He met his to-be husband, Kethan, ((and step-daughter, Mei, who was about 2 years old at the time)) not too long after he moved into a town that would turn out to be his residence for several years to come. Kethan had a powerful determination to make Minolin feel welcome in the town, directly in spite of how other people were treating him. Eventually the two grew close, and became a couple. Minolin treats Mei no different he would treat a biological child of his, and cares very deeply for the wellbeing and happiness of them both. They all lived together in this town until Mei was 8 years old. During this time, Minolin kept many details about what he was doing on the surface a secret from his family, other than that he was there on duty from his city in the underdark- though he did occasionally confide in his husband about his upbringing. However, eventually word got around and someone came to stop his evil doings. Minolin was defeated by a group of adventurers, caught and frozen in place with a spell. The party nearly executed him, until they found out about his family. One of the adventurers took pity on him, and convinced the others not to kill him. She gave him the choice between returning to his family and reforming into a better person, or being killed then and there. He took her offer gratefully, and despite the other adventurer's uncertainty, they allowed him to leave with his life.
Minolin stayed true to his word, and he went on to cut ties with his city in the underdark. He moved him and his family to a new town to avoid being detected by them, and finally was more honest with Kethan about what had been happening during this process. After finally settling into a new town, he had difficulties finding a job or community to involve himself in due to being a drow. He's since taken up on-and-off adventuring simply as a means to put food on the table for his family, since it's one of the few ways he can get decent pay for his work.
The main community that Minolin is involved in is a Temple in their new town for [name], Kethan's main god of worship. At first many there did not want to allow Minolin to become a member of their church, both due to him being a drow and due to his abilities with darker arts of magic, but Kethan managed to convince them to allow him in. Over the years most of those who go there have learned to at least tolerate Minolin's presence, and he's managed to actually make a few decent friends as well. The family is pretty active at this temple, visiting it frequently and being involved with the community there and activities that they do. The general focus of the temple is to help make the community in their town better, and surrounding himself with people of this mindset has helped Minolin in his journey to becoming a better person. The family had been living in this town for about three years when a baby had been given up by her parents to the temple due to being a half-elf. Kethan and Minolin were both excited at the prospect of being able to raise another child together, and Kethan managed to convince those at the head of the temple to allow the two to adopt her. She became their second daughter, Eirina, is she's about 11 years younger than Mei.
In addition to his worshiping at the Temple of [name], he's also taken up the Goddess Eilistraee. While there's no community for her in the town where he lives, he and his family all make acknowledgements to her in their home.
