A college student attending a local community college with his best friend Nie. He feels glad he survived high school. Generally the type of person to just "go with the flow" until theres a problem.
His life feels bland and samey up until one fateful school day where, after parting ways with Nie after class instead of their usual walk home together, he's jumpped by street thugs. He struggles to fight back but is totally out classed and ends up blacking out.
He then wakes up exaused, surrounded by their bodies, covered in blood and with wings on his lower back. He has no idea how this happened and struggles to stay awake.
Nie, after coming from school finds him in an alley and draggs him away from the danger.
Nikko is someone who tries his best to be happy and have a positive outlook on any situation. When he gives up the situation must be dire.
He relies more on emotions than logic and geuinely cares about other people, unlike Nie he doesnt need logical explainations for everything and will charge into things head first.
So when he starts seeing monsters he doesnt really think about it, he just decides he wants to stop them with his new powers so that they dont hurt anyone. "if this is happening and I can actually do something, I might as well do something so I can help others out, right?"
Best friends with Nie. They clash a bit personality wise. Nie is the one that dragged Nikko to safety after his power first awakened. To Nikko's knowledge he's the only one with a power. Nie tries his best to support him through this weird transition.
Notably Nikko currently has no sideeffect for his power since he only recently awakened to it.. however it's possible that he later develops the same sideeffect that Nie has or maybe not! only time will tell

He uses his scarf for close ranged attacks, the ends of it can move on their own to attack.
Nie and Niko have been close friends since elementary school, where they met in 4th grade
His wings are supposed to be on his lower back/lower middle of his back instead of the usual higher up wings. You can draw em however you want though I break this part of his design alot

He apprears to have a positive outlook on life, seems happy and is kind of energetic. However he is also impulsive and a bit oblivious to just about everything (bit of a dumbass).
