Dawn, also called Joker or the Dawn Joker, is an Outsider-- a being that exists outside of the known multiverse. For every thing that Is, there are things that Are Not-- and she is one such creature. Outsiders usually manifest as spirits, mythological figures, or some other such fantastical and magical force-- and for Dawn, she manifests as a cat-like kitsune spirit. Dawn came to the world proper from the Outside with her partner, Dusk, and the two were killed by a rogue god called Malfys. Upon dying, though, Outsiders merely reset, losing all their prior knowledge and memories. So, now Dawn and Dusk are Inside, in the world proper where they shouldn't be, with no memory that they are actually Outsiders. Their very presence puts a strain on reality itself, due to their very nature being the antithesis of extent things.
Dawn is strict and rigid in her justice. She believes in following the rules and doing so absolutely, no matter what. She is a stern ruler, but one who is easy to understand and get along with. Her strength of conviction and purity of intention are comfort to those under her leadership. She does have a soft spot for Dusk, who is more roguish in nature, and she has a soft side that is less intense and more serene and contemplative, though she seldom shares it. She is often seen as being cool, lofty, and immovable by those around her. Those who know her personally know that she is also warm, thoughtful, and kind.
