Backstory:

Violet's mutant powers manifested when she was a teen, and her family was not happy about it. Her father in particular was very hostile towards her, so she ran away from home at age 16. She managed to get along by herself pretty well into adulthood, since her powers made it easier to get what she needed. Eventually, she landed a steady job as a bartender. Some time after, Erik and Charles approach her during their recruitment of mutants in First Class. Violet is reluctant to join them at first, but quickly develops a connection with Erik. After the chaos on the beach in Cuba, she decides to leave along with Erik.

Marriage & Parenthood

Erik and Violet get married some time after First Class. Shortly after, they are wrongfully arrested and imprisoned for supposedly killing the president. Years later, Quicksilver breaks them out, and after the events of Days of Future Past, the two of them flee to Poland to live in hiding. They raise a daughter there, Nina, who develops a mutation that allows her to communicate with animals. They live peacefully until Erik's presence in Poland is found out, and the police show up to arrest them, and Nina is accidentally killed in the crossfire. During the events of Apocalypse, Violet is reunited with their son Pietro (Quicksilver). Once Apocalypse is overwith, she and Erik settle down on Genosha and make it into a haven for mutants. Pietro visits them when he's not busy with the X-men.

Personality:

Violet acts cold and abrasive to most everyone except her family-- around them, she's much more warm and relaxed. Her loyalty to them is incredibly fierce, and despite feeling unqualified as a mother, she's very affectionate and patient with her son. She also strongly believes in Erik's ideology regarding mutants and humans, even supporting his more violent methods. Although she was already tolerant of criminal activity to begin with, his influence certainly had an impact. She isn't afraid to kill if she feels threatened or wronged, making her considerably more vengeful than other versions of herself such as Violet Spider/Spark.
