They are so old... They saw the complex appear and collapse. They know so much, they say they even know the future, and if you connect to them, your processor will simply fry due to an excess to all information. Though it can be just rumours they made up to stay safe. To find them is very difficult, they have learned to hide and hide in places where no one else can get. But if you are ready, you can try to find them and ask for advice. Or where the exit is.

BIOGRAPHY
PORTAL ONE
Aperture embodies what at some point was a Psychologist Construct: a half-hearted attempt of Cave Johnson to get Labor Inspection (regarding humane work environment) from his back, now almost completely destroyed and fixed by hands of a nearly mad man.
Aperture's job was once to monitore and ensure mental stability of lab's employees as a specifically crafted middly-intelligent contruct, though he - being a product of Aperture Labs he is - for the most part offered not so much thoughtful guidance as a patient ear at best, and really questionable advices at worst. Aperture got workless when GLaDOS took over the facility and then was almost completely destroyed during events of Portal, being unlucky enough to be located in the most damaged wing. He remained in the brick of his robo-death for some time and probably would have eventually shut down if not for his old patient/aquantance Rattman - during that time still keeping at least a little of his mind - who discovered and fixed him. A poor, but still palable attempt which reasulted in Aperture taking form he is now. I mean, weird shape aside, at least now he is able to go whenever he wishes again...
PORTAL TWO
During events of Portal 2 and further Aperture just roams the facility, doing whatever he wants and ocasionally visiting his now less and less sane "friend in the walls", sometimes feeling generous enough to keep him company for a while. It is really debatable whether he got attached and actually feels grateful (as much as his programming allows him to) towards scientist he actually knew when the complex was still full of life, or maybe it is just his remaining programming tells him to "listen" to people's rambling an Rattman is an only available option. Either way he seems to be more intelligent now and even does not mind having a conversation with someone once in a while. Depending on whether the opponent will seem worthy of his time.

MISC
TRIVIA
- Because if its own plants Aperture is very difficult to see in collapsed and overgrown with plants rooms of the complex. He probably uses them for comuflage intentionally.
- His body have two air vents, but the blades on them spin very slowly, so you can see the internal mechanisms behind them if you get close enough.
- Aperture's body seems to be accumulated with a lot of water, but it doesn’t seem to bother him much. Probably because he is already so wrecked, so it's systems just built some sort of water-proof resistance.
- Rattman was responsible for his catlike shape and small paintings all over body. Apperture also knows where he is and often visits him in his hiding places, so he is pressimingly one of the only (semi) living beings with whome the poor scientist have had conversation for years.
- He become more sentient with time (probably due to different parts Rattman "borrowed" from other aperture machinery to fix it), but still cannot really speak, so he simply uses quotes and words from his database to communicate. Due to this Aperture's voice often uses diffetent frecuencies and weird and/or simple word construction during speach, sometimes even switching between languages. His database consists mostly of angry vent from Aperture science employees from the past or Rattman rants so yeah, a lot of swearing and semi coherent scientifical noncence involved.
- Only three legs, but it doesn't seem to bother Aperture much. He is still as swift and fast as any other robotical cat would be.
