Li Mei's personality is completely artificial as she is new to actually having characteristics that make her stand out. In her former life, she was a background character with a slate as blank as they come. Nearly all of her positive traits are part of the persona she has created based on her friend in the past. Li Mei is not used to being the centre of attention but due to wanting to be a part of people's lives now she forces herself to be a super happy go lucky social-butterfly. She will try to force herself into conversations as a way to make friends and is even quite a touchy person within reason (won't touch certain parts.) Li Mei is not aware of social cues and etiquette so it is not hard for her to be seen as irritating and invasive, whether it's invading conversations or personal space. Her persona tries it's best to be optimistic, trying to encourage everyone around to be as well. Despite the overly positive persona, she is also super emotional to the point where she cannot tell if it is her persona putting on a cute act or genuine feelings. One thing Li Mei knows for sure is that she is easily jealous; while it might not be too extreme cases, Li Mei is jealous of people who are naturally alluring and do not have to put on an act to be likeable or noticed. Due to her insecurities and cravings for attention, Li Mei can find herself getting attached to anyone who acknowledges her whether it be a faint interest or just saying she is in the way.

History:

Li Mei's was nothing particularly special at first. She was born into a world what she could only describe as a dull and monotone. There was nothing unique about her childhood, she had both parents who worked simple jobs and an older sister who despite bickering sometimes, she was on good terms with. When talking to others, almost everyone had the exact same life with just a change in the number of siblings. Teaching Li Mei early in her life that she was just part of the insignificant majority, and she would never be important.

Still, Li Mei was going to enjoy her life even if her dreams and aspirations were crushed in her youth. From around the age of 8, she started to experiment with the arts and it's different pathways from textile work, to crafting and eventually drawing pathway. Drawing was something Li Mei found pleasure in as it gave her the opportunity to create whatever she wanted, however, she would never add colour to her pieces as nothing in her surroundings gave her inspiration. The same dull, grey hues simply ate away at her muse when she would try to imagine her images with colour.

Li Mei was as close to content as she could be with her life. When she started to attend high-school, Li Mei had what she originally thought was a fateful encounter. "Watch it." It was her first day and Li Mei found herself on the pavement outside, a slight stinging in her knee. Above her was a tall boy, with sterling silver hair and piercing amber eyes. Despite his rude tone, Li Mei couldn't help but be infatuated with the boy. He was so much more colourful than everyone else she had ever seen, someone unique unlike the rest of the crowd. Her dull eyes watched as the boy stormed off, unable to pull away until she heard another voice. Li Mei looked over to see a girl, even more colourful than the boy previously. The girl brushed her lilac locks out of the way and helped Li Mei up, apologising for her childhood friend's behaviour. After the two talked the girl introduced herself as Yingtai and they found out they were in the same class as each other, as well as Jiayi the boy from before 

Li Mei was over the moon with the fact that she had made a friend, especially someone who really was like a flower. There had been a few cases where Li Mei had asked her friend to model for her, if not Li Mei found herself sketching Jiayi in her notebook. The two had such a positive impact on her life at first, influencing Li Mei to add colour to her artwork. That was about it though, as their school life went on, Li Mei noticed a few more boys appear who stood out as much as her friend and crush. Jealousy began to grow inside Li Mei who was envious of all the attention Yingtai had. She was unique, people loved her, she was just so beautiful and Li Mei just wanted a little bit of that. Still, whenever Li Mei tried to mimic her friend's extroverted personality, it was like a force was stopping her from doing so. 

Li Mei was not the only person who was jealous of Yingtai. There were multiple times where Li Mei noticed another beautiful girl glaring at Yingtai from a distance. While she was beautiful, unlike Yingtai her beauty was cold and unapproachable. Something was wrong with that girl and Li Mei knew it. Usually when the girl was around, it was just discomfort that Li Mei would feel but one day something was ominous. Li Mei watched as the girl followed her friend from the shadows, eventually revealing a blade and such a twisted expression. It turned out the girl was a crazily obsessed fangirl of one of the boys Yingtai had interested in her. As the girl lashed out towards Yingtai, Li Mei instinctively got in between the two; a sudden warm sensation coming from her torso. Ah. This was bad.  Li Mei staggered backwards, her eyes making out a blurry scene of Jiayi appearing and pinning down the aggressor. Despite the melancholy washing over her, thinking about how her life was wasted being one of the majority, Li Mei did not regret her actions as she helped continue the main story. 

TL DR; Background character befriends the main character and sacrifices herself even though the main character would have been fine due to plot armour.

• She is extremely pale and even when flustered, her face does not go pink. At most, it goes a slightly pinkish grey.
• She adores romance and says she wants to be the protagonist of a romance world.
• In reality, she just wants someone to think she is special asdfgh.
• Her eyelashes are white.
• Her silver belt is tied like a bow in the back and has bells attached because she is worried about being ignored.
• Her features are not meant to be defined and in comparison to most, are rather forgettable. 
• Unless disguised for assigned roles, her eyes appear pupilless. 
• The mixture of her lack of presence but forced 'extrovert' personality makes startling people quite common.
• Has a habit of touching people a lot.
• Other girls make her uncomfortable because they are all so pretty and she is just so average.
