Nuria was brought up with her older half-brother Kabil, and father in the dingy slums of a small town where majority lived in poverty. After her mother left the household quickly fell apart, leading to abusive behaviour from her father. At a young age Nuria was trained for combat, cage fights, underground fighting, all to make coin for her father. Her fire genasi affinity allowed her to burn opponents, and her small stature was deemed an asset.
Soon growing used to the fights and pain, Nuria went into a state of numbness, her mental state deteriorating and is seemingly never fully there due to her trauma. One day she finally snaps, lashing out and her fire powers going awry, burning her home and the town around her to ash. She's later found as the only surviver of this so called 'Tragic Act'. After being found out of what she had done, she was sold off to an arena to fight in more pits, as a gladiator.
Gladiator life was mind numbing, remembered hazily and repressed since then. She was rarely paid for her kills, but got to keep the large array of weird weapons, trinkets, and totems of the recently killed as a form of trophy. In her daze, there is a fight she doesn't remember, but another does. Klaene, the lizardfolk, had underestimated the young girl. Had placed a bet for his sword, he gave it up after his loss -- but recognizes her in the future as she still carries his weapon around.
