Species Data Empaths are beings of pure energy that thrive and grow based on the feelings of those around them; their individual temperaments are developed early in life and are solely determined by the environment they're born into. As they grow they learn how to construct an outer 'shell' in order to separate themselves from others and define their own personal identity; in the case of pure empaths this outer shell takes a humanoid appearance with very pale skin and bright color-changing eyes that fluctuate with their mood. When blending with other species they can alter their appearance through illusions in order to more closely mimic the dominant species of that planet. They also have very weak telepathy, allowing them to communicate in emergencies or with those that can't speak, and can emotionally 'link' with others in order to share information. Opening the link though is extremely dangerous to the individual as it bypasses their protective shell and, if not carefully controlled, puts them at risk of losing themselves. A fully realized empath gains thin translucent wings that naturally shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow and reflect their inner being. |

Den's empathic nature and ability to commune with the departed regardless of where he is can make him extremely volatile at times; he's been known to explode with seemingly random bursts of anger and to shutdown completely with no warning or response for hours on end. His powerful telepathy makes him especially sensitive to changes in the environment around him and because of this he's naturally distrustful of new things. To him survival is more important than friendship and this view is what initially led him to 'collect' strong players from doomed sessions, though over time he has come to actually care for his followers. |
| Backstory | Early Life
Den has always been aloof, he never cared to interact with the 'pure' empaths and trolls and spent more time studying or making things with Rigel than 'playing' with others. When the time came to play the game he refused to join the others despite repeated attempts to involve him, and eventually they were forced to leave him behind. The meteors devastated his home planet after that, raining down for weeks on end, and he retreated deep underground with Rigel in order to survive; eventually he and his lusus were the only living things left and in order to escape starvation he booted up the game. As the only player he was forced into a dead session and took the path of the conqueror because he refused to die. After that long, painful 'game' he emerged victorious but with no frog or victory door he was left to rule over paradox space instead of escaping back to reality. Since then he's taken to wandering the Furthest Ring, always searching for his 'muse' or a 'door' to a new place.
