The sound is both like music and crashing waves, being close to water like oceans makes it more potent as Nova is more able to "imitate" the sound properties and amplify them)

Profile
Namino Amane (波望 天音) -> Nova Radcliffe
Also known as Nova Radcliffe as of recent years. is a medic Anomaly Operative that acts timid at first.
The adoptive child of an established retired Anomaly Operative, they have a bit of a competitive mindset wanting to "prove" that xe is better than their adoptive siblings that are also AOs, but ended up as a medic because of their below-average attack power and better-suited special skills. Specializes in suggestion, hypnosis, and sleep related magic and abilities.
Most of the time xe wears pastel or dark clothing that covers most of their body, they don't care that it's too hot in the summer to wear a turtleneck and jacket, they WILL do it. Xe alternates between different hair colors, most commonly a pale blue, and chemically treats their hair to be "straighter". Nova has brown warm skin, is about average in height, and has a pear-shaped body. Speaks Communia well and retains a bit of fluency in Japanese and Okinawan from childhood.
Personality/Attributes
How they act when you first meet them can seem anywhere from cold, timid, to silent. This is due to not being that social in medical settings, which are the most frequent circumstances you'll see them in. They take their job seriously in their own way and they're a bit rough around the edges due to how gruesome the job is and having lost a loved one xe was treating. When you get to know xem, they are very proud about their proficiency in specialized magic and how much they study it when they can. They are excited, confident, and show how knowledgeable they are in specific fields of information and skills on some occasions. However, it's not rare for them to at least try to make patients that insult their craft and abilities go unconscious or complacent by concentrating their aura's effect or even inject their special sedative on them. Which is kind of short-tempered of them to do, but then again, their placebo and sleep induced magic does accelerate the healing of Anomalous humans and normal humans. They have a lot of food with long shelf-life around their office and nursing room as using their magic can make them Very Hungry, and they appreciate getting and receiving food as much as most people would appreciate large wads of cash.
You're likely to hear, "People really underestimate how useful suggestion and sleep-inducing magic is" at least once if you start to talk to xem.
They like children and have better manners and are a lot more cheerful around them, xe might mention sympathizing with children and how they don't want any child to go through anything like they have. They might not be very moral, but they would protect children with xer life. They also enjoy teaching others, so they're prone to getting jobs or chores that involve that like being a teacher's assistant.
They don't want to lose more people close to them, because of this, they don't show that many sides of themself to people that often, and when stressed out they start to believe with conviction that it is impossible to die under their care - as a way to cope with past trauma. That isn't to say they don't have any friendly acquaintances, because they do, they just won't be as easy to slip into their vulnerable state of admitting such worries or showing their flaws, instead either being timid or Too Professional (when not angered).
Because of being one of six orphans that a retired Anomaly Operative adopted, they have a complex about having to be the best from the pressure he put on them but also rebelling against their adoptive dad to not fit into what's normally expected of AOs. As a result, they get defensive and take things to be a challenge of their skills sometimes.
They have a lot of stamina (physically and mentally) and are stubborn, which is good for a defense-heavy support Anomalous Human type that they are, but not as practical personality-wise in close relationships as it can deter others from forming close bonds... which is exactly how Nova prefers it to be.
Everyday Life
The things they usually do is study magic, psychology (including experimental study publications), biology, do medical AO work, listen to music (and study it a bit), work with kids, and hang out with people in group settings -- especially if there's food involved.
They manage to get college-grade books from The Mainland and other parts of Culte and Cultefora to fuel their crave for knowledge and other curiosities, they've managed to keep away from consequences of what that involves. They also get books that are provided to them through AO group funding as it was later found that the small investment is worth it for the pay off in increased productivity and effectiveness. Sometimes, Nova assists in scientific breakthroughs by helping out other more experienced medical professionals, sort of like interning for them.
Xer siblings work at other AO groups, even in different places in Culte and Cultefora, with exception of one sibling being in the same country as them. There are times they have to medically treat their reckless sister's (Daisy Radcliff) wounds, even preventing her untimely death on one occasion. Because of this, that sister comes over every once in a while to have weekly dinners with Nova with the intention of lessening xer loneliness with how everyone is so busy and Nova has been closing xemself off since losing a loved one.
Every week day, they trey to help out at an after-school program for kids as a teacher's assistant, with some interruptions by their medical AO job.
History
They used to live with their single mom (as a single child) who raised xem on their own after their dad passed away when they were too young to remember. Originally from Okinawa, Japan, their proud Okinawan mom moved to another part of Cultefora with prospects of having a better job to support Namino when xe was 10 years old. It was while they where acclimating to the new environment that Namino's mom died from a demon attack after a newbie AO had handled the situation poorly. Xe had heard it happening while hiding in a closet after hearing the demon barge into their home, the demon craving human meat and blood. Xe was found by another AO that came as backup preventing Namino's death as the demon barged into the room, scarred their eye, and dropped them like a potato sack after being killed by the AO. One thing led to another, and Namino got adopted by a senior AO after being put in adoption when it was found they had no one else that could take them in.
After the incident, Namino, now named Nova, was despondent and selectively mute for a good while. Their new parent had introduced them to a new world of Anomalous Humans and Demons, where they were expected to keep up along with 5 other children of varying ages in becoming Anomaly Operatives. Al, their adoptive parent, insisted it was what they needed to be able to protect themselves, to learn more about the world because in the future they were going to train to be AOs and "prevent tragedies like your mom being killed".
It was very stressful, Al was still working as an AO for a good two years after Nova was adopted and they had to see glimpses of how gruesome it could be but how close-knit the operatives were, it was a weird feeling. Al lived more lucratively than Nova ever had before, having nannies, house workers, and house nurses on hand to tend to his kids while he was away -- which was kind of often. All of them had been put into schools in Culte to learn and be proper people that would carry on the Radcliff name. Of course, all of them also got extra physical education and mental fortitude "classes" to prepare them for actual AO training later on. Nova started to escape into their own world and put on music to drown out everything else while feeling unable to talk.
It was only a year later that they tried to connect with their new siblings who had gone through similarly traumatic situations. They became close to Emma, one of the older siblings that was already in AO training at 17 years old. They would try to do they best they could and the older siblings would act as the younger one's parent figures, Nova was the youngest and last orphan to be adopted by Al so they were the baby of the family.
"It's when I see my new smaller siblings that I feel like I have a reason to keep going, that I have a purpose, to protect. I want you all to be safe." Is a phrase Nova remembers their admirable big sister tell them. The admirable big sister that protected all of them and other humans.
It was all pretty normal. Nova felt that maybe there was hope because of people like Emma and that maybe becoming an AO wouldn't be that bad.
They made a few human friends at school (while still a human) and had started to pursue their interest in music with music clubs, Emma coming every few months, having been deployed to a Culteflora colony and it getting very busy but squeezing out as much time as she could to visit. It was when Nova was 15 that they got the news that Emma had died off-duty at the age of 21 from yet another instance of a demon rampaging. This re-opened some wounds, and Nova delved deeper into music as a way to express traumatic feelings and the emotions welling up inside while xe felt that soon they'd be marching off to their death when having to train as an AO soon. The stress changed them to be a lot more mellowed out instead of a nervous but otherwise happy and joyful kid, that change pushed away xer friends away and xe ended up alone with little support, all of their siblings too busy to properly reach out to the traumatized teen Nova.
"I just want it all to stop. I want to be happy. I want these emotions to stop.I want to just sleep forever." where the kinds of thoughts Nova had frequently, and the imminent ordeal of having to train as an AO made them panic and feel helpless. They already knew they just weren't that strong. They kept thinking about what they could've done or said to make things different, and realized there was nothing. "Emma and momma, I'm so sorry. It must've hurt a lot to die that way. If only you had passed away without pain, without suffering."
Eventually, came the time they had to be trained, and have their total outlook change to be more useful for Culte and Cultefora's maintenance as an AO. When their soul was unlocked, their aura had become something that could calm others, make them complacent and sleepy. Nova had found that to be odd, and looked into anything they could inform more about what they were getting into and the "why"s of everything, but it was all so confusing. They had a complicated relationship with needing to satisfy higher-up's and their parent's wishes for them, and the confusion and anguish they felt. During this time, even with seeds of curiosity and doubt deep in their heart, they became complacent themself and would just follow orders trying to bury everything inside.
While training, they became buddies with an unknown individual that trained alongside them and that taught them magic, it was through their interactions that Nov a learned to try not to care too much what xer dad wanted and that they were their own person. Nova taught that unknown individual how to stay calm and collected under pressure. It was that Unknown individual's rebellious and individualistic attitude that drew them in. As was to be expected, they started to date as well. It lasted even after training as one of Nova's few dating experiences and the longest one so far that lasted a couple years. When they became full-fledged AOs, Nova decided that becoming a medic was indeed the best thing to do as their offensive skills and inclinations lacked severely. Their S/O supported them in that decision, saying that it must've been from how much xe cares about others and not wanting them to die that something good could be born. Nova too that to heart, deciding to focus on their strengths and compassion for others to become a better medic, and also focus on any magic that could lessen other's pain and suffering. It was from that idea that Nova started dabbling heavily into psychological psychosomatic connections with the body and emotions, doing things like suggestion, placebo, and sleep related magic similar to their aura's effects and making any methods to amplify their abilities. Xe also started to take part-time jobs and help others, especially children, because xe felt that they had to carry on similar ideals as their big sister Emma did despite being the youngest of the siblings.
As was to be expected. their S/O eventually died from a dangerous mission while being treated by them. Died in their arms as Nova's aura flared up from the stress, giving their S/O a "calmer" passing. It was because of this that they closed themself off, and it's much harder to get close to them. They got much more absorbed into work and perfecting their skills, having a hard to achieve goal like "no one under my care is going to die".
Later on, they got transferred to a different group after resource allocation and put xer in Cultefora Japan, their original mainland. And that is where they are now.
