A member of the Kanzaki can long thought dead after disappearing in an incident that occurred when he was eleven. He made a deal with the clan's deity, Raijin, and was able to achieve power greater than any Kanzaki before him. He joined an underground ronin group shortly after disappearing where he plays a pivotal role in their plans (whatever they may be). He's known for his brute strength and childish personality.

Katsutake spent his childhood under the instruction of his father, Hirotake. His father was set in his ways and stood by the tradtional training techniques of the Kanzaki clan. Most of the other clan members had since ditched most of the techniques because they began to be seen as inhumane, but Hirotake wouldn't give up beliefs. Because of the tough training and the absence of his mother who had died during childbirth, Katsu easily grew to resent his father. He had never been particularly athletic or physically adept, so the tough, unrelenting training was able to beat him down easily.

In an act of desperation, he begged his clan's deity, Raijin, to give him the power to make his father listen to him. Raijin agreed, seeing promise in him, and gave him a significant amount of power and expected nothing in return. The initial spike of power caused Katsutake's anger to become unbearable, and because of Raijin spurring him on, he stabbed and killed his father. He quickly came to his senses after the action, and barely heard his Hirotake's meek apologies and professes of his love that he always had for him. The shock was too much for him, and Katsutake blacked out.

When he came to, all memories of his father's words were gone. All he remember was killing him and his father's silent, quick death. Raijin told him what he wanted to hear; his father never loved or cared for him, and accepted death quickly without so much as a glance to him. Katsutake quickly made the decision to leave the clan that he grew to despise and fled deep into the forest near his clan's manor. He cut his hair, a clan trademark, and dropped the half of his name that he had gotten from his father.
