Ryouma

Ryouma was born the crown prince of his kitsune kingdom. He grew up spoiled, pampered, and groomed, but despite all this had no desire to take the throne once his father stepped down. And so, when he had sprouted his second tail and received his preliminary lessons in magic, he ran away from his princehood. He wandered far away, shedding the title of prince, though not the expectation that others would and should treat him like royalty. When others he met outside the kingdom did not bow to him, he was surprised and angered. But, as a yet intelligent young kitsune, he quickly realised that they did not know him as Prince Ryouma, or any name at all.

Sobered by this realisation, Ryouma briefly considered going back to the kingdom. But the heavy responsibilities he'd have to take if he ascended the throne drove him further away, and so he delved into a life of trickery and thievery. He studied and strengthened his powers, and before long was able to summon multiple fox fires to assist him in his escapades. He learned that humans were quite easy targets, as those in the area tended to revere him and would sometimes willingly give away their gold and valuables. Those who were not so willing, he would overwhelm with fox fire or other illusions, and snatch their coin purses and jewels while they were too disoriented to fight back.

He used the money to purchase lavish things for himself, such as fine cuts of meat from the butcher, soft and silken blankets on which to rest, ancient tomes to read and learn from, and even hired a carpenter to construct him a small palace deep in the woods he had deemed his own. The inside was cozy, large enough for Ryouma and at least a few others to live comfortably, and held all his belongings safe from the weather and thieves. He learned to cast an illusory spell upon his palace to make it invisible to anyone with ill intent in their heart, aside from him of course. Ryouma loves his lifestyle: thieving and living in a modest luxury, but can't help but feel lonely as he has no friends and has never really learned how to make them.
