Hoshi is a very ambitious person, wanting to be the "best" in the things he sets out to do. He always goes all out, and has unwavering determination. This may be rooted from his desire to prove himself to others and to himself. He is a diligent worker that tries to learn as much as he can from everything. He is convinced that he isn't particularly skilled in anything, and made it a point to compensate for what he lacks in skill with sheer effort. This excessive drive is not without consequence, however. He feels an immense guilt whenever he is not hard at work, making stopping every now and then to smell the flowers quite a difficult feat for him. Adding to that pressure, as he trapped himself in an unhealthy mindset that effort is the one and only thing he has going for him, the sentiments of being talentless and not being good enough eats at him at idle moments. Though he firmly believes that there should be a healthy balance between work and leisure, he is one of the first offenders of that rule.
Knowing that he wouldn't just be all talk, Hoshi is very prideful and may come off as a bit arrogant at times. [Tbc...]

Hoshi's unit partner and future romantic partner. Shouhei is the exact type of person he doesn't know how to deal with, and one of the people that can render him speechless at times. Though not being too fond of Shouhei in the beginning, he did acknowledge his talent in dance, as well as his drive to work hard when it comes to the things he was passionate about. He found Shouhei's presence rather imposing and difficult to get used to at first. Given Hoshi's cynicism towards other people, he found it difficult to trust that Shouhei was just sincerely a warm-hearted person that genuinely wanted to befriend him. Eventually, he warmed up to him and even ended up trusting Shouhei more than he ever intended.
