Profile

HISTORY:

Wei was a child born of ice and moonlight.

By the time he could walk, the winter had already welcomed him as one of their own. Nothing put Wei more at ease than the comforts of snow and cold, something he had been exposed to at a young age. He was a child, who watched his parents as they danced upon the ice, his eyes wide and heart filled with delight. For the first four years of his life, he saw the world from outside the rink before gentle hands guided him onto the ice. His parents, both of whom were professionals in the world of figure-skating, showed Wei his first dance - one of intertwining souls, bodies moving in unison as if one. Enamored by the beauty, he wanted to follow in their footsteps. Age four, he had his first skates, and began taking lessons.

When fourth grade came around, Wei met Zhen, someone he could only describe as his soulmate. She was everything he was not: loud, charismatic, cheerful, but they complimented each other. The two of them were partners on the ice, always together, a duet. And together they remained through hardships and changing times, even when Zhen had already graduated. Their one year apart was the hardest, but time passed and Wei was soon at the same school as Zhen.

Freshman year, he joined Sulbing with his friend. But the club was a joke. There was no ice rink. There were no trainers. It couldn't even be called an ice-skating club. That year, Wei, along with the few members of Sulbing, changed all of that. But even with all their efforts, the school refused to fund them. It was nothing short of a miracle that they managed to make a deal with the ice cafe; in exchange for work, they would get to practice in the rink. It certainly wasn't the development Wei was hoping for, but at least they were able to skate.

Fifteen now, Wei looks ahead, hoping that one day, he would stand on the grand stage his mother once occupied.

PERSONALITY:

Eyes to the ground and hands clasped behind him, is a timid boy. His world is shrouded in panicked whispers and anxious thoughts that, more often than not, puts himself down. Wei is overcritical of himself and quick to see his faults, but at the same time, he remains aware of his limitations. He is dependent on others, and constantly needs assurances and praise to convince himself he belongs. This often leads him to do things he normally wouldn't consider, and can be easily peer pressured into certain opinions or actions. But past his timid nature is a kind individual, who isn't afraid to show affection to his close friends, and offer an ear and hand whenever they are in need. He is responsible and hard-working, and goes to great lengths to maintain his routines. Mind running wild, Wei is also imaginative, his thoughts weaving together worlds and characters that he scribes into his journals. Though not many get the chance to see that side of him.

STRENGTHS/SKILLS:

  • Figure-skating: Having parents who are professionals in the sport helped when Wei discovered his passion. Since the age of four, he has been skating and perfecting his dance on the ice.
  • Flexible and nimble: Skating is a dance that sometimes require considerable flexibility. Wei has not gone a day without pushing his body's limits.
  • Planning and organizational skills: Having a professional trainer as a father only led Wei to the inevitable planning of his own training regimes. Through many trial and error, he has picked up on his father's skills, especially when it came to creating menus for his friend, Zhen.
  • Self-motivated: Though this mostly applies to just ice-skating, Wei can push himself to work hard and achieve his goals.
  • English: As in the subject. Most of the time, when he is not on the ice, Wei can be found curled up with any reading material or writing in his journals. Though not intended, this has helped his English skills and man, can Wei put out a mean paper. Fortunate for Zhen, who sucks at it.

WEAKNESSES:

  • Communication: Riddled with anxiety, Wei finds it extremely difficult to talk to people. Often, he breaks down in tears out of fright and panic when he has to speak to others, especially of those of some authority (teacher, parent). Even if something important needs to be mentioned, he is usually unable to.
  • Quiet: More times than he can count, Wei has been told to 'speak up.' This isn't something that is easy for him and although he tries his best to talk louder, it takes considerable effort.
  • Easily frightened: Please save him.
  • Sensitive: Wei is frail in mind and spirit. Comments towards him are taken to heart and any situation that puts him and a stranger in a conversation may push him to tears.
  • Pushover: Though Wei is a kind individual, this weakness is a result of his fear of others and how they view him. Afraid to be seen as rude, he often does not say no when something is asked of him.
  • Math: He's really bad at it.
