Mariam "Matcha" (怪猫会)

Life in Inkopolis has always been hard, but no one can deny the fact that it has only gotten harder as technology has become more and more complex. The line between man and machine becomes more and more blurry as time continues to pass, and Mariam is no exception to this fact.

Taken from her family at as a young age as punishment for a mistake her parents made, Mariam has had it drummed into her head that she is disposable, nothing more than an amalgamation of flesh and machinery designed to serve and protect her master. She has been extensively modified and trained for her task, and regardless of Lizard’s feelings on the matter, Mariam is ready to lay her life down for the Yakuza’s next in line.

Having been raised alongside Lizard, the duo synchronises like flowing water. Mariam is there to support Lizard emotionally and is always first in line to help him progress in his endeavours. Despite her best efforts, Mariam has found herself becoming unreasonably attached to her superior, and she is painfully aware that there is no room for sentimental attachment in her line of work. However, this train of logic has proven nothing but troublesome for the woman, as Lizard has been reciprocating her feelings tenfold. Though she has done her best to rebuff Lizard's advances (out of respect for him, and fear that she will compromise her task), Mariam has finally accepted that there is no point in trying to deny how she feels, and the pair have begun to be romantically involved in secret.

Between keeping Lizard safe, maintaining her secret relationship, and fulfilling her duty to Kaibiyou-Kai as one of their most valuable assets, Mariam has her hands full with several responsibilities. On top of that, the weaponised warrior has found herself being hunted by the full extent of the law. She has been deemed a threat to the Megacorporations (that may be because she murdered a CEO’s daughter, but that’s beside the point), and a bounty has been put on the woman’s head to bring her down, preferably dead.

If anything, this is a minor inconvenience to Mariam. With her prized katana in hand, Mari is perfectly happy to face off with a few trigger-happy goons if it means her future husband (she’s waiting on the ring) is left alone. Sure, having a few guns is cool, but have the zaibatsu seen a woman crush a car with her bare hands?

If they think Mariam is going to go quietly, the megacorps having something big coming their way.

Nothing is going to get between this raven and her cat, even if it means crushing a few skulls in the progress.

• Cyberoptics - Mariam is able to see in dim light, and her eyes are also fitted with digital recorders, as well as a thermograph sensor
• Cyberarms - Both of Mariam's arms have been replaced with replicas designed to look realistic. These arms are fully armored, have storage compartments, and have ripper claws so that Mariam is never truly unarmed
• Neuralware processor - Mariam has specialised processors that allows her cybertech to function. She is fitted with a phone splice, a voice stress analyser, a pain editor (she cannot feel temperature or pain), and a biomonitor (resistance to torture and drugs)
• Cyberaudio - Mariam's hearing has been upgraded with a noise level dampener
• Muscle and bone lace - Mariam's body has been altered to make her resistant to attacks and physical duress
