★ Hatchling lantern dragons are insanely destructive for the first few weeks of life, trying on anything that might pass as a tail, ransacking houses and trying to pass as a family cat; and most importantly discovering this new thing called 'food'. They're voracious eaters and are particularly threatening to anything that tries to take their snacks away.
★ These dragons were born of an ancient union between the god of dreams and a distant nebula. They start their lives as comets, drifting through space, speaking with the stars for sometimes millennium before making landfall. When one such comet hits a planet, or any other mass of land it hatches, revealing the baby dragon inside. They are wholly unaware that this point that they are in fact not celestial rocks floating through space and will scramble to find their tail. That being the tail of the comet that they have recently lost. Anything glowing will do, from magical crystals to simple battery powered flashlights. They are no bigger than house cats when they hatch and they have a very slow rate of growth, only reaching the size of a horse after many centuries. They also retain all of the ethereal knowledge taught by the stars on their journey through space, leaving them as overly wise but socially incompetent children.
