APS

About + Backstory

APS stands for Automated Plantation System and was built by Futura. He resides in a facility on top of a mountain. The facility is called Botanlab Inc. where the botanists would, obviously, do botanist things, but their main focus was harvesting plants that are going extinct so they could put them all back in the wild and restore the ecosystem/habitat/niche. APS is basically the mind of the facility. He controls the clocks, timers, water pumps and tanks, data, and generally any kind of electricity flow. He is the facility.
The facility was rather small on the outside, but on the inside, it was much bigger. There's an elevator that goes deep within the mountain where even more plants are being held and possibly tested on. Unfortunately, APS doesn't have much control over in these areas besides checking up on the workers, and watering at certain times. He doesn't have any cameras to take pictures of the growth of plants sadly, but there are roughly 15-16 smaller bots that do just that. Those are the AMP robots who basically, as said, watch over the plants and take pictures of them; they also ship things in and out of the facility.

But, enough about that. At this time, APS was actually really cheerful. Not the kind of guy to get jokes and stuff though as he was always multitasking everyday, every minute. There were about 24 workers (including the AMPs) who he greeted each and everyday when they signed in (excluding the AMPs cause they live there and stuff). Everyone was friends with each other and they all got along; with a few major and minor arguments. But, to most of them, APS was like family.

The years passed and everything was running smoothly. (This is just what I have now. The story may change later.) APS slowly became more and more resistant to letting his creator, Futrua, leave the facility. She was usually the last to leave. APS would make her sign-in/sign-out take longer and longer to sign-out or make the exit door slowly open or hesitate to open in general. When she- or anyone questioned this behavior, he would typically ignore or skip the questions.

When Futura was planning on coming in to check on APS and see if there were any malfunctions in the wiring or data corruptions, she had to run off with her husband for a separate meeting. She had one of her employees do what she had planned and check and see if APS was ok and working well. 

When she got back, everything seemed normal until it was her time to go back home. APS, who's screen was off, wouldn't open any doors to let her leave. She was trapped. Maybe about two minutes pass and APS turns his screen on with a sad expression and, uh, they basically have an argument on APS wanting her to stay while she defends with why she can't. This angers APS and he starts getting violent and thrashes a few things in the room. All in all, this ends in APS killing Futura whether intentional or not. APS then slowly processes what he just did and freaks out and quickly tries to cover the evidence. However, the smell still lingered.

When the rest of the employees returned, APS didn't greet them when they came in. Although, the AMPs, seeing the whole thing on what happened, eventually told them what happened. They opted to abandon Botanlab Inc. but keep the robots working to prevent anymore casualties. They boarded every ground entrance so no one would get in.

APS wasn't getting use to the silence and loneliness, knowing it was all his fault for the recent changes. He decided to go into his own files and rewrite the programming, delete most to all history, and roughly reset himself knowing he can't "live" with the guilt. Once he turned back on, he was a new person. Instead of always cheerful, he was pretty much always irritated. He hated almost every living thing and was just annoyed by every other robot and usually yells at them. He prefers being alone and continuing his job in both the mountain and above it. If anyone manages to get in the facility, he simply throws them out and locks the door they came in.
