Personality
Simon is friendly, forceful, and more sensitive than he probably should be. Although good at blocking emotional responses when in the middle of a task, Simon's control over his feelings and reactions in casual situations is much less refined.
While he claims to be a devout utilitarianist, Simon hesitates when faced with any decision that could cause harm to others. He does not sleep well at night.
Skills
Simon is articulate, adaptable, and idealistic. With a solid understanding of ethical theory and a flexible moral code of his own, he's well equipped to rationalize and accept decisions that others may find reprehensible.
He can project venom from his fangs as far as 10 meters away, or will bite in close quarters.
Simon is capable of hurting people, in theory.
Equipment
In a leather satchel he always has with him, Simon carries a moleskin notebook, a full set of writing utensils, and a revolver.
Core concept: A character involved in a profession that requires hurting or killing people in pursuit of justice* -- police officer, bounty hunter, vigilante; can change with setting.
His stated moral code is strictly utilitarian: he doesn't, allegedly, feel remorse when individual people must be sacrificed for the common good, and has no issue, allegedly, with personally killing people for his cause.
Simon has thoroughly and irreversibly traumatized himself through his work.
He is unable to question whether or not the ideals he's devoted himself to are correct, or ask if there are ways to accomplish his goals without hurting people, because doing so would mean holding himself accountable for his actions and acknowledging that hurting people is a fundamentally fucked up thing to do.
This concept, whether or not Simon's job involves directly causing harm, and how far along Simon is in his character arc are all flexible with different RP settings. Consider this a very loose outline.
Although I use he/him pronouns throughout this template, gender and pronouns for Simon are not set in stone and can be changed freely.
