Marigold is one of the prettiest girls in Sinclair, at least by the standards of the high class people of Sinclair, a.k.a. everyone who mattered. At least the people who mattered to her father. Her father used her beauty to arrange a marriage between her and one of the richest men in Sinclair's son, Joshua Baker, who's father owns a meat packaging business rising in the stock market in mainland America. Rebecca didn't hate Joshua, they just never clicked. He was just too obsessive over her and their planned marriage. He even would talk to her about the way he'll "deflower" her. That was nothing she wanted to hear, she wanted more then a planned marriage. She wanted love. And she loved Banneker. He was adorable, kind and always wanted to help her. She never felt afraid around Banneker. Even though they were from two different worlds he knew just the way she liked everything. Banneker was perfect, even though they were just friends.

But Banneker was black, and Banneker was poor, and Banneker worked at her father's factory. If they were even seen together people would think the worst. Sadly they were one night when they went to a small abandoned cabin in the sea. They only talked about books and food and exchanged kisses, nothing sexual. Yet nobody would believe that when the rumors spread about their time together. Her father could not stand for that with an arranged marriage to handle. So her father orchestrated a lie to make sure everyone believed that Banneker raped Rebecca. They had a law suit and everything and Banneker was put into jail. She didn't mean for this to happen. She loved him. She LOVES him. This wasn't suppose to happen to such a sweet boy, and she hates the part she has in this disgusting play.
