Personality

I 01 Kaisa is a stern, but very motherly individual. She tends to be very focused and no nonsense, and generally enjoys her work above all else, focusing firmly on bettering the world for her family and those around her. She has good intentions, but can come across as snippy or oftentimes agitated by others bothering her. She doesn't particularly suit the realm of leadership- as it's not something she natively has, but has over time adapted to the role and can be confident along with teach others as necessary since there are many things she's been educated in that her peers haven't yet had the chance to learn. Kaisa also struggles with some anxiety about her position and the things she's seen happen to people she believed in. Watching the chaos as it unfolded left her with grave questions as to the value of her own position and the dangers of heading down the same path that destroyed their predecessors.

I 02 Open minded - Adaptive - Earnest - Reserved - Comes across as snappy - Easily overwhelmed

I 05 Kaisa's biggest goal is to recreate a self-functioning society, while avoiding the mistakes of the humans who gave them the intelligence to do so. She looks to blend the newly re-blooming natural world with the mechanical one left behind, and wants to keep pressing forward with research to make other animals intelligent as well, in the hopes that offering intelligence will also allow more able bodies to help rebuild a shattered world. She does, to some extent, want the humans who are in hiding to be able to return, though she knows in order to achieve that- they must find some way to stop the robots, who currently still dwell among the city ruins in hibernation, ready to awake to human trespassers. She feels it her duty to try and save them, since they are the ones who made her who and what she is and gave her the ability to think for herself. She is not, however, willing to put her group's lives on the line for her own ideals beyond mutual survival.

I 06 Kaisa's biggest fear is reliving the incident of her past, watching the mechanical beasts hunt those that she cares about. Right now they are oblivious to anything that isn't human, but it plagues her everyday to fear that they may wake and decide that her kind are equally flawed. She often has nightmares about them returning to attack their tower. Her other biggest fear is failing her group, and letting them starve by relying on science, or losing all of them to their feral instincts, and being the only one left with any semblance of 'humanity'. Especially her partner- Jaga. She also fears losing her cubs to the same risk, though at this time she has no idea what effects the serum has had on them, as they seemed to have been born with some semblance of intelligence that previous generations had not, making her quite curious for their futures.

I 09 Kaisa's biggest enemy is her self doubt, though it isn't something she always remembers to be aware of. She is reminded often by Jaga that her doubt is eating her, and preventing her from furthering her goals and research because she's spending too much time dwelling on the possibility of failure. She struggles with being too cautious and though she tries to push herself out of her safety box- as she know she must to progress science and their society, she can't always urge herself to fight her instinct to flee and protect things the way that they already are. "If I had to choose something that stands ever in my way, it's myself, through and through. All I want is to move forward, further, into the unknown, and yet I can't seem to lift my feet, for my fear of getting lost is too heavy to continue. How do you urge stone paws to move?"

I 13 When confronted with disrespect, Kaisa isn't the sort to take it personally. She is a very logical individual, and as a result if there is no logical reason for the failure than she can easily dismiss people acting out or lashing out at her. She is very much the sort to try and use any insult/criticism as constructive in any way that she can and when confronted with people disrespecting her it's most imperative to her to figure out why this is the case so that she may remedy the situation. If someone is blatantly and repeatedly disrespectful, she may grow annoyed, but she's more likely to leave in a huff than confront them if absolutely necessary. Most of the group wouldn't stand for others disrespecting her in the first place- so anyone who crosses her far more likely has the other lions of the group to worry about first.

I 14 Kaisa's biggest strength is certainly her ability to be openminded and change to suit things around her. She's got a huge heart, and always wants to do the best she can for those around her and as a result her bonds with those close to her are strong and she's always got someone to rely on. She is willing to hear out most things, and consider anything posed to her. She is very logic driven, and though she struggles with her doubts at time- most of the time she can easily see past emotional barriers to get to the roots of the matter and calculate things in productive ways. She is very focused on what she wants and isn't easily swayed unless you have good reasoning and solid evidence to back up reasons she should abandon any pursuit. She is steadfast, and reliable in most situations, making her a good person to turn to.

I 15 Conversely, Kaisa's greatest weakness is her doubts in herself. She tends to dwell too long on the possibility of failure and her abilities as a leader- instead of focusing on the good things that she has done and can do. She doesn't always relate well to others on an emotional level, and sometimes her words can come across as too blunt or abrasive- or simply uncomfortably cold due to the fact she tends to state facts rather than opinions wherever possible. While she does try to help others, sometimes her ways are convoluted and can be matters of "For the greater good" instead of focusing on being morally correct, leading to dismay and disillusionment among those who are loyal to her- wondering where her interests may lie. She sometimes puts numbers above those around her, and just as its a strength to be very logical- it can be a weakness when she really needs to be able to relate to those around her and earn their trust.

I 17 Kaisa is more than capable of admitting her mistakes and learning from them. She makes an effort to-whenever she makes an error- do everything in her power to prevent it from happening again. She does have a bit of a problem accepting issues at face value however, and always wants firm proof that she's wrong before she will admit as such. She can be rather hardheaded if your reasonings for her being wrong aren't solid enough for her liking and she will not sway from whatever logic tells her to be correct. If she does make an error, she is most careful to note it in her logs, so that if she comes across a similar error in the future she may remedy it before it occurs. Likewise, she'll try and use her mistakes to teach others to avoid them as much as possible, so the group as a whole may grow from them. She isn't above using herself as an example as necessary.

I 18 Despite being the leader- Kaisa is most definitely more of a native follower. She highly prefers to let others take the lead and herself study what they do in order to plan her next actions and to learn from them as an observer rather than an executor. She isn't one to challenge rules or things she knows to be true, and doesn't really like being in the spotlight under most occasions. She struggles to win over new people due to her somewhat putoffish nature. Though a follower at heart, she has taken on the role of a leader with varying degrees of success. The longer she stays in this role and learns from her mistakes- the more she has grown in order to rise to the occasion and be the one in charge that the group needs. She is a follower turned leader, which comes with its share of problems- but they're ones she's willing to face, because really she has no choice.

I 19 Kaisa's biggest pride is her family, and the society they have managed to create. She is endlessly loving and proud of her cubs- and won't hesitate to show off any of their accomplishments to anyone who might listen. She is also proud of the society she and her partner have managed to build, and how they've made great strides in attempting to rebuild things in their own way. She's always elated by the accomplishments made by those she's taught, and how far every member of her group has come since they first joined and have contributed to her dream and their continued survival as a whole. She is proud of her ingenuity in figuring out some of the machinery that she was not taught to use- and how far she herself has come as a leader in order to protect those she cares about. She still strives to do much more, but she can always find an accomplishment.

I 20 If Kaisa was to choose a trait that she values most about herself and has served her well -she'd certainly cite it as her ability to figure things out. She tends to be quite creative when it comes to problem solving, and though she is reluctant to go too far out of her comfort zone- if its related to science or something she has some knowledge about- she's quite good at putting pieces together. She regards it as the same thing thats helped her to become a leader, putting together pieces of what she learned from leaders better than her to create a style that works for her. She's good at compiling information and learning from things around her, making her very adaptable to the changing and volatile world that surrounds her group. Her clear head under pressure also serves her incredibly well, letting her attention stay on the tasks at hand instead of getting distracted by lesser problems or by her own fears.

I(s) 4 !! WIP Kaisa is the sort of individual who'd prefer honesty in any situation, even if it means people or herself being hurt in the process. Being very detached from emotional viewpoints renders most insults or "Honest" opinions she may not like as being impersonal, lessening their impact. However, as someone who is very scientific in her mannerisms and viewpoints, lies can be actively harmful to others and her own pursuits. She would liken it to missing a variable in a science experiment, or a number in an equation- even a small lie can change the entire outcome of the test to the point that the result is entirely unrecognizable to what the problem originally was. Likewise, in a society that is a giant problem solving project, it would make sense that all members should be giving their full information in order to achieve a correct result. Since she is so separated from emotion-driven choices, she often can't understand why anyone would want to lie in the first place. Most of the time, she does nothing but observe consequences and disdain fostered by lies or hidden information that could have been quickly absolved with honesty, which is most certainly why she chooses full honesty herself. Whatever emotional security someone was finding by hiding such things, probably wasn't worth the trouble in the end in her opinion. She likewise can't personally see any good or valid reason to lie, even if trying to protect people, and most especially to herself, as she sees herself as quite reasonable and able to listen to others. She would never take the position of someone needing coddled or sheltered, and would prefer anyone to go to her with anything- regardless of the severity of the situation. She would be far more frustrated by the prospect of not working with all the information that she could have been than she ever would have if someone just gave her the truth to begin with- even if she didn't like it.

Because of her fairly forgiving and open nature, most within her group are pretty honest with her from the start. They know she is not likely to attack or berate them, and as such has no real reason to fear providing her the truth. However, due to her sometimes equally blunt and honest nature -those who are more sensitive to emotions may selectively avoid giving her information where possible if they know she's likely to disapprove- as if she does she most certainly won't hold back from making it quite well known or admonishing the person (in the most earnest way possible) for the action/thing of interest.

Trivia

  • I 07 Kaisa's name translates to "Pure". She was not given this name by her mother (As her mother was a feral lion without that sort of comprehension), but was given the name by one of the researchers at the facility where she was later taken. After she gained her intelligence, she was given a name to replace her number, now that she could recognize a name. She was at first quite innocent and naively oblivious to so much that the researchers lovingly called her innocent to the world, "Pure", and eventually they came upon the name Kaisa as a formal one to give her after exploring the concept a bit more. She liked the name, even if she didn't quite understand the meaning at the time and it stuck. She can also go by "Kai" as a nickname, but usually it's only one used by those close to her and she may be uncomfortable with being called that by others.
  • I 21 The most valuable trait someone could have to endear themselves to Kaisa would be a willingness to learn. An open mind to rival her own will most certainly assure she'll enjoy your company and be willing to teach you anything you may want to know. She adores those who are avid students, and will gladly impart her knowledge on to them so that they can find a role within their group that fits them perfectly. She finds it easy to get along with and trust other scholars- as she believes logic is a mutual language that people who are loyal to it can typically agree on. Though not always the case, it certainly helps her get along with some of the most dedicated members of her group, unified on a mutual scholarly interest. She also finds they're less put off by her word choices, and finds it easier to build a friendship with them.

History

I 03 Kaisa originally was born in a small zoo in the city where she currently lives, alongside her mother. After her mother's early passing due to bad mental and declining physical health, she was taken in by a research facility where she was raised and tested on (benevolently). Though used for tests- her benefactors were very kind to her and took the utmost caution, as their work was being done in an effort to save animals by giving them human-like intelligence, or at least making them intelligent enough to be what the government had institutionalized as a "Productive member of society", at the risk of any 'unproductive' creatures being removed to preserve space on an overcrowded and over-drained planet on the brink of collapse. Kaisa would eventually become the first success of this project, and as a result later go on to become the leader of the group in the city they now called "Cinders gorge", in reference to the flames of the city burning after the attack that wiped out all humankind in the area.

I 04 Becoming the leader of the group wasn't Kaisa's choice, but as she realized everyone looked up to her she chose to change and make herself into the leader that they needed. She generally handles the more advanced scientific aspects of the group, along with teaching new additions their languages and how to operate machinery that would be the most helpful. She also leads research into further advancements- and is the only member of the group who knows how to create the serum that gives intelligence to other creatures. (Though at this time, the serum only works on certain animals and others simply can't be saved). As necessary, she heads up managing the areas of the old lab that manufactures the food that the members of the group eat, and also takes on the role of an archivist, recording all of the days events every day through voice logs so that their progress can be monitored.

I 16 Kaisa's greatest regret is not being able to be there and do more for the researchers who treated her well and gave her her intelligence. She recalls watching their demises- and trying to fight the machines that led to them, but she is adamant that she could have-and should have done more. She wasn't fast enough or strong enough or smart enough to find a way to dismantle or destroy any of the robots in time to save anyone she cared about. This weighs heavy on her heart, and contributes to her doubts in herself. She also regrets the fact that she doesn't really remember her mother- though she has seen photos and videos of her. Upon gaining her intelligence, she didn't really recall any of her previous life, and she often feels the absence of a real family who was like her. She regrets that she couldn't make her mother happy enough to continue on with life- and though she couldn't have possibly responded in the way she can now, it still pains her greatly.

Jaga Mate/Partner

01 Kaisa and Jaga are mates, with multiple cubs of their own. Their relationship is romantic, and that of best friends. They are close confidants, and understand each other very well. Though Kaisa can occasionally disappoint her partner by not being as true to her abilities as he thinks she can be- they otherwise rarely have arguments due to the fact that Kaisa is very nonconfrontational and Jaga is incredibly relaxed. They work together as leaders. Kaisa does most of the decision making and acts as the figurehead, while Jaga is more of an advisor and public servant, along with ambassador. He reminds her to stop working when she gets carried away, and wholeheartedly gives her any help that she needs with unfailing loyalty. He isn't afraid to tell her if she's made an error or mistakenly said something insensitive. They are very effectively each other's balance and other half, and inseparable.
