Faustina Harahel

(Back)story Summary: 

Faustina was born the princess of Celesmere, a powerful empire nestled atop floating islands. She had a royal education and took an interest in diplomacy, especially when it came to economics/trade, at a young age. Throughout her teen years and young adulthood, Faustina did her best to persuade her father, the king, to approve the contracts she wrote, with little success. When she was twenty, her father abruptly sent her away from the Skylands to draft a contract with the Fae. While in the forest, separated from her Guard, she met Mara. With a knife to her throat, she panicked and said she was a Faerie ironically named Fae. Mara's squadron came across Faustina's Guard and a bloody battle ensued, but Mara allowed Fae to escape, then promised she would escort her safely home to the Skylands. They fall in love quickly over the course of their journey. When Faustina returns, though, she learns that her father was assassinated by her best friend in her absence, and she must assume the crown. With her father out of the picture, the war between empires comes to a boiling point, and Faustina anticipates being killed in the final battle. When Mara offers Faustina a peace treaty just hours before the fight, she signs, and both rulers do their best to unlearn the longstanding hatred their people hold for one another.

Personality Summary:

An absolute angel! Faustina strives to be kind and open-minded. More than anything, she wants her kingdom's laws to be fair to her people. She is, however, very sheltered, rendering her innocent to the point of obliviousness + overly idealistic. She doesn't understand how cruel the world can be.
