About

Veronica is a Nunuke who’s currently working as a bank teller located in the surface of Xygoroth, where a majority of the residents are Xynthii. She’s got a relatively average income and lifestyle, though her origins story was anything but normal at first.

Personality

Vernoica is a very polite and well-mannered lady. She's also pretty hard-working and intelligent. There's literally no such thing as procrastination for her, so she's that 1% out there. Sometimes she can end up being a little too ambitious or nice though, to the point where some people might try and take advantage of that.

She's also a bit accident-prone and clumsy, though that's only natural because of everything she's been through. She tries to be as cautious as possible with her surroundings, but sometimes it can't be helped.

Abilities

Unlike most Nunukes, Veronica was not born with a stinger tail. The end of her tail has a planet’s globe at the end, so she can’t do much with that when it comes to having to defend herself.

She also just can't feel pain. It's not just because she has a high tolerance to it, but it's simply because she never feels pain. She can't feel physical pain at all.

Backstory

She never felt pain.

Ever.

When Veronica was a kid, her parents found out the hard way that she had a rare medical condition where she couldn't feel any physical pain at all. It wasn't a discovery that rushed in all at once. Rather, it was a bit of everything that slowly led to that conclusion.

One day, when she was five, Veronica accidentally went flying off a bike while her father had been trying to teach her how to ride one in a park. She crashed somewhere on the pavement and broke her ankle. However, instead of crying or struggling to move, Veronica just tried (and failed) to stand up with her bent limb before limping over to her dad with a smile on her face.

It was made very clear that Veronica was not a typical girl.

When it came to her personality, she had always been a good and responsible child. She was even able to skip two grades in school because of this and the fact that she was a smart and studious girl helped a lot. However, despite all of this, most of her peers would just come and go whenever they tried to befriend her.

At first, a lot of the kids would be amazed by her no-pain medical condition. They all wanted to talk to her about it out of curiosity. They were fascinated by the fact that she could just break a bone and not feel a thing.

One day, however, Veronica accidentally broke her thumb so hard that it ended up being completely backwards during recess. She tried to share this news with her classmates and teachers, unware of how severe something like that was, and all of the students got too creeped out to hang with her anymore.

Rumors about what she did spread throughout her elementary school, and by the time she was becoming a preteen, a lot of her classmates were already avoiding her. Even though it was over such a small thing, they still didn't feel comfortable around her anyway. What if she were to break something way more bigger than a thumb and try to act like it's fine when it's not? Just thinking about that possibiity alone was kind of gross to them, hence why they no longer hung around her as much.

It was such a petty thing to do, and the whole incident was already not that big of a deal, and yet Veronica felt hurt for the first time. Just because she couldn't feel physical pain didn't mean that she was immune to emotional pain.

At least all hope wasn't lost for long. Veronica did eventually end up meeting someone who would accept her for who she was in college, even if that person that originally been a childhood bully at first. Her name was Tamera and she's actually her girlfriend right now. Even if they hadn't gotten along all that well as kids, they were still able to work things out over the years.

Now she currently works as a bank teller. She's doing okay for herself, although things are even better whenever she keeps her relationship in mind. She didn't think she and Tamera were actually going to work out, she had only asked Tamera out because it was all or nothing, but she's glad to have someone be accepting of her (parents aside).

Other

Perhaps the reason for why she's so nice and accepting is because she's trying to compensate for being 'creepy' due to her medical condition. While not being able to feel no physical pain was a blessing, it was also a curse too. It was the one thing that prevented her from comfortably making friends. People just felt too uncomfortable around her whenever she would injure herself and try to brush it off, unaware of how severe the damage is.

She once got stabbed at a Dollar Tree store. She had just been buying a few things from there, like simple grocery store stuff, when a guy just came up and shanked her. Of course, she didn't feel shit. She just kinda blinked at him. He got so startled by her calm response that he just ran off. She told herself she would go to the hospital after dropping off the groceries at her house. When her girlfriend Tamera noticed her bleeding though, she freaked up and they rushed for medical aid right after that. Luckily Veronica is fine now, but it was still a scary moment for Tamera.

Veronica mostly just started caring more for her well-being because of Tamera.

Her parents still worry a lot for her, but she does try to reassure them that she's okay through a weekly phone call.
