"I would prefer without honourifics, so please talk casual with me."

Despite looking and acting regal and aristocratic, Faust has a down to earth personality and loves to listen to jokes and people telling their stories. More often than not, Faust barely reacts to any sort of subtle invitation or advance, requiring the other to blatantly say it to his face before it registers in his brain. However, his personality wasn't always like this; he only became to be this way after meeting his "foster" father, to whom he was not afraid of since he was a very young boy.

Calculative and patient, making Faust angry requires certain attitudes to set him off. When he does unleash his anger, fearful and immense pressure hits those around him with incredible speed, jolting everyone. This level of pressure, he says, is what he learned when he lived in Nisedia, the Dark World, with his God father overseeing his health and education.

My Dear Protector

Raised in an impoverished family, the man that Faust could hardly bear to call "father" dominated everything that happened inside and outside of the house. Any slight move that was deemed to be "wrong" meant brutal punishment, accompanied with screaming fits and smashed bottles of alcohol. Faust could never understand why he and his mother stayed with a man like him, and was thankfully greatful when the man suddenly left. His earliest memories of terror had forced him to learn quickly, maturing faster than ordinary children would, staying silent and afraid of contact with others. The only thing that managed to help Faust from breaking was the old, rusty sword his father had. Sometimes, because he could not pull out the sword from its sheath, he would use it to beat him, but the sword seemed to leave a lesser blow than the rest. It was his saving grace, and he desperately clung onto it.

His mother, finally free from the stress of that man, moved their location to live elsewhere. Despite it leading further down their impoverished life, his mother worked hard to support her only child. However, she couldn't afford to look after him all the time, nor ask someone to watch over him or take him in for the day. Listing all the things he had to do, his mother sternly told him to stay home and never leave until she came back. He listened, for the most part.

Stepping outside into the quiet morning after his mother had left, he decided to explore. After all, the forest was right beside their house, and because it was right there, he wouldn't have to wander far. There was a small cave that was especially interesting to visit, because it was a lot larger on the inside than it appeared to be from the outside. A lot of things were scary - constantly changing form and whispering into his ears - as he quietly ventured in as far as the light would reach, but nothing compared to the living nightmares he had to deal with just recently.

A pair of legs appeared before him. He looked up, stiff with fear as he gripped the battered sword. But, suddenly, his fear left him.

Before him was a man of great height, clad in shifting dark fire, his skin sleek and grey-ishly dark. The boy offered the stranger a wide-eye stare: he was suddenly interested in whoever he was standing before him. The other frowned, crouching down to Faust's eye level.

"To what happened to you that your reaction to me is this impassive? To what warped your perception that causes you to see the amount of pity I see over you? Poor, poor boy..."

To Whom Shall we Conquer?

Despite his mother catching him not in the house, Faust continued to venture outside. After all, this strange man was feeding him food, and he was slowly teaching him the language and certain practices of the dark world, Nisedia, that he happened to stumble into unknowingly the first time.

He had learned that this being was a King of a kindgom in the dark world, and that his ruling was one of the closest to the light world, Mamondas. Perhaps it was his fascination to those who lived in the light world, but his now God father was incredibly patient and nurturing towards him.

If it was requried, his God father would step into conflicts and do his upmost ability to quell the anger that existed on both sides. Sometimes this resulted in a truce or newly founded understanding, but more often than not bloodshed was a result due to stubborn views. As a result, this would often lead to his God father either 1) gaining new territory, 2) creating new alliances, or 3) new enemies.

Despite the existence of enemies, they were smart. Pushing their boundaries was not a good idea, seeing how the connection with Mamondas and Faust's God father's kingdom was growing stronger both power wise and diplomatically. Waiting for that one fool to take that first step in hedging an attack against his kindgom would allow them to step in. Distracted and weakened by other forces, these enemies would have an easier time conquering.

One of the fastest ways to overcome this hurdle was to target someone that the king thought of as precious. Originally, there was no one like that, as he had fathered no children, nor was he interested in taking a spouse. That is, until Faust came along.

Seeing that he was a mere child compared to the likes of them, one of the enemies decided to action their plan. As the neigbouring nation to his, they had many battles over land, units, and resources. History between these two kingdoms had been recorded for thousands of years filled with petty wars, skirmishes, and full-on battles, so naturally both sides had to remain wary. The enemy side decided that they would take the child as a hostage and demand for territory, wealth, and various other things as blackmailing compensation. Disposal of the child would then be completed before the hand off. That is what they would have hoped, anyways.

A Fool you Always Were

It's not like Faust wouldn't have seen this coming. No, he was expecting it. After all, should there be any enemies of his God father, naturally they'll want to come after his God child. It was already suspected that their neighbouring kingdom, which had held some history against theirs, would want to come after Faust as it would be their easiest pathway to having victory over his God father. He and his God father knew that. They prepared for that.

Messing with their kingdom was a stupid move on their part. This would mark the end of their differences, as his God father's forces were ready to conquer theirs once they had made their foolish move.

Faust dislocated his bones, easing his hands through the cuffs as he stood up, shocking those around him. The air was suddenly heavy and almost suffocating as Faust glared down his opponents with a subtle smirk.

"I don't think you realize how much you've fucked yourself over." Faust said with a dark chuckle as he cracked his fingers back into place. Pulling a sword of what appeared to come out of nowhere, Faust swung it forward, challenging anyone to come close.

His opponents looked at each other with both smugness and confusion. He pulled a sword out of nowhere, but is that for show? Or did he actually know what he was doing?

They didn't have much time to gloss over that, only noticing too late that their hostage had pulled the first move.

Trivia

His God father went to the border of his kindgom to see what his scout had saw for himself. If it was a small child from the light world like his scout had said, the best course of action would be to scare them back. That plan backfired immensely.

His biological father died from alcohol poisoning. Neither he or his mother visited his grave when he died, regardless of how long it took for them to find out. He just was, and never was, worth it. Faust hopes to never be a man like him.

It took until his adulthood for Faust to regain a softer personality. This was the result of the King's staff and guard, along with his mother constantly attending to his needs.

When his mother found out that Faust had gained a God father, she panicked. An otherworldly being, despite sharing the same living surface, had scared her out of her wits. It took years for her to accept his son's relationship with his God father.

His God father offered the throne to Faust, as he was well liked by all those who entered his palace and places that he had visited, but Faust declined. He felt it wasn't right to take something that wasn't originally his, and there wasn't a real reason for him to govern another race.

Faust is incredibly oblivious to any type of advance. His life had been particularly rough, so seeing this type of intention was something that never crossed his mind. Alas, there may be at least one individual aside from his God father and mother that he has a bit of an idea of what they're after.

Style: With physical strength one would not expect from someone like him, Faust is able to crush things with his bare hands with ease. Although not much of a fighter, Faust excels in sword combat, but only for brief moments. Faust would rather remain on the defense until something prompts him to act otherwise.

Pressure: having learned from his God father and his cohorts, Faust is able to pressure specific targets to his surrounding area. Individuals affected feel short of breath with sudden weight on their bodies, stumbling to form words or coherent thoughts as the closer Faust gets, the harder it is to break free. Despite his ability to immobilize individuals, he still needs a bit more work in Nisedia to completely overpower others (while others have never seen his strength before in Mamondas).

Yhva, Illiavah's Eventide Eosbreaker: A black longsword that somehow finds its way to its owner every cycle, when it is not in use it bears a rusty, fragile look. Non users are unable to unsheath the blade, though non-users would see no benefit in doing so anyway. Rightful heirs are able to reveal its true brilliance when the need to self protect becomes too great, and maintains its form for the rest of the heir's life. It has an interesting property of fluidity, where, when used, is unable to maintain its sharp look. Wisps of what appears to be black mist fade off from the blade, with the level of flare shifting to the level of anger or persistence of the user. At the cusp between Nisedia and Mamondas, Yhva is able to show off its stable form, revealing a simplistic pattern that dances along the entire length of the blade.

Yhva's intended use is to be both a buffer and a displacer. Made of a unique and unknown material, it was crafted in the thousands of years beforehand. With little of its kind remaining, it has similar magic properties and capabilities of a modern day magic barrier, freely allowing Faust to "slice" into barriers. Displacement of the barrier takes over the space of where he points his blade towards, effectively "cutting" at his opponents from the other side. It parries well against spells, especially against those where the spell's foundational basis depends on changing properties (i.e. fire shifting to water), often cancelling the hit to a certain extent.
