Serious, wise, and younger than he might look, Tio is keenly in-tune with the hidden side of life. He struggles with understanding and controlling his natural empathic abilities on his own, as well as with the apparent dichotomy of logic and emotion. Understanding both himself and the world around him drives him forward, but his end goal is finding his wife again. He has a strong conscience and is deeply committed to his values to the point of brick-wall stubbornness. Above all, he is very much in tune with the intricate workings of the universe and the people that live in it. At his worst, he’s fatalistic, overemotional, and dogmatic. At his best, he’s gentle, remarkably perceptive, and inspiring.

Born and raised in a breathtaking realm of Nirvana where twilight is eternal and the stars dance just out of reach, Tio was surrounded by people that looked and acted like him for the first decade of his life. His people are aasimar, imbued with the aspects of Agathion, good celestial guardians that tend the rolling, glowing mountains and evening pastures of Nirvana. When he tumbled far, far down through a sudden tear in the planes and landed on the World below, he was young- just a child- lost, lonely, and terrified. A dragonborn ranger named Russo took him in and raised him, giving her young charge all the love and care she could- but they were very different. The empathic abilities native to Tio’s people were unusually potent in him and, without one of his own to guide him, he found himself often caught in the intense emotional currents of the world around him. Curiosity, the same force that had urged him to look down into that hole in Nirvana, now pushed him to seek out knowledge and understanding. He pledged himself to Anasel, the goddess of healing and knowing, and set out on a lifelong journey to share and spread the understanding that he himself craves within.

Natural Empathy

Tio is able to sense other beings' phero-emotional "signatures" like threads in a larger fabric. He can read strong feelings and intent, but is not very skilled at picking out individual signatures unless he focuses and understands them intently. He is particularly sensitive in this compared to the majority of his people.

Planar Geometry

After long hours of study and field work, he has an in-depth knowledge of the movement of stars and how that influences magic and travel in the realm. He has made an intricate system to understand the movement of the heavens and the world around him, and can sense the dimensions and locations of "magical epicenters" as they rotate through the material realm.

A Knack With Kids

Despite all appearances and his stern demeanor, Tio has a certain magic to him that children find delightful.

• SWEET BAKER, SOUR COOK: Makes good, solid bread, both sweet and savory. Fair cook, good at not burning things but not so good at toning down the intensity of flavors or heat. Tends to undercook and overspice things.
• DECODER: Comfortable in a handful of cyphers. Loves solving logic puzzles and cracking codes. Skilled in deciphering secret languages and solving locks.
• TALK TO THE HAND: Fluent in a dialect or two of sign language.
• RHYTHMATHEMATICIAN: Wonderful dancer, singer, and musician. Intimately understands rhythm, harmony, and tempo. His coordination in musical matters ties very well into his grasp on math and physics.
• IN THE NICK OF TIME: Time conscious. Almost always early to things and at the latest on time. Gets up very early in the morning, even if he gets little to no sleep the night before.
