A detective of an Alternian city. Being born in a caste where everyone is pipelined into units of the law, Rorzak came to have high standards of justice and harnessed a deep pride in the role, eager to make differences. This idealistic outlook came to a head as he grew up and came to terms with the true nature of his planet and its empire. Fearful of the fatal consequences promised to anyone who steps out of the mold, Rorzak pushes down his sense of identity under his own paranoia and anger.
Despite his short fuse and scowling face, Rorzak still wishes to be a good person at heart. Though he plays along with Alternia's image, he does what he can to separate himself from the line. Rather than stay at a sanctioned precinct, he parted to work his own detective's office where he is hired as a consultant and turns a private eye to cases Alternia would otherwise look away from.
How much this distinction helps is debatable; Rorzak still finds himself a puppet to the empire's whims and this struggle between wanting to survive and wanting to be true to himself causes deep internal strife.

Rorzak typically presents himself as reserved and serious, a man not wanting to waste much time on nonsense. He regards many people with suspicion, keeping most other trolls at an arm's length, even the ones that he's spent sweeps with. Rorzak has an issue keeping his reactions in check, normally biting back back with anger or cynicism. The expectations Alternia has for a troll has ingrained this aggressive pessimism in him.
In actuality, Rorzak is a very emotional, idealistic individual. He is fiercely protective of those he considers under his watch and though his own walls to cross are high, his sense of empathy has him connecting with more people than he'd admit. Despite spouting pragmatism, he is not as above shenanigans as he'd like to lead people to believe. He can get distracted from his duty by things that peak his interests and some may find him to be gullible, traits that he's extremely embarrassed about once the realization hits.
Rorzak holds himself to high standards and wants to feel self-assured in his abilities. He is intensely paranoid about not doing enough to pass the empire's expectations and not doing enough to keep from fundamentally losing himself in the process. Training to fit in with Alternian society and leaning hard into his more introverted and aggressive nature while keeping a lid on his true values, has twisted him from the optimistic, rebellious kid he was. He is a survivalist above all else, but taking this route with his self-awareness of how arbitrary Alternia truly is causes no small amount of despair and anger within him that he continuously internalizes.

Rorzak's grappling gun is convenient both for mobility and combat. Hunting down clues throughout the streets of Alternia's cities requires him to move far and fast, a feat possible with the grappling hook's motorized pulley mechanism. Rorzak also chose it for nonlethal offensive use, primarily firing it as a projectile or using it to grab people to trap them or bring them closer.
Skirmish
Despite his small stature, Rorzak can pack a punch. He expends a lot of his energy strength training and if the situation calls for it, he won't hesitate to throw fists at an opponent. However, due to other trolls tending to be armed, it does leave his bare hands vulnerable, something he's familiar with.

Trivia
- His first name and initial design was inspired by Rorschach from Watchmen, named after Rorschach inkblot tests.
- Ulpian comes from a Roman jurist of the same name, best remembered for the phrase "Juris praecepta sunt haec: honeste vivere, alterum non laedere, suum cuique tribuere". This translates to "The basic principles of law are: to live honorably, not to harm any other person, to render each his own."
- Rorzak's favorite kind of food is spicy, spicy, spicy. He can't stand most sweets.
- He genuinely enjoys solving all different kinds of puzzles and will do jigsaws in his spare time at home.
- The least skilled when it comes to video games out of his peers; he's prone to ragequitting when things aren't going particularly well.
Relationships
VALTRA TELIKO
Having been practically inseparable after enduring the Trials together, Rorzak has placed a great amount of trust in Valtra. He used to let his guard down around them very easily, but since graduation, their relationship has been strained. Rorzak is hesitant to be vulnerable around Valtra, but he still cares about them deeply and holds their opinions in high regard.
PYRROH LOKARD
Rorzak's fellow graduate that he had befriended during their time in training after the Rites of Maturation. After an incident during their graduation, both of them changed in significant ways that cause them to butt heads. Rorzak cannot wrap his head around Pyrroh's lackadaisacal nature regarding the empire, something he also envies and wishes he could emulate.
