Axion represents matter itself, specifically dark matter. Radiation, regular matter, and dark energy are outside of his jurisdiction; though he may manipulate himself to be visible, tactile, or otherwise perceivable to other life-forms with great strain. While he can use his subatomic powers in alternative states, he is also vulnerable to being influenced (e.g., hurt) in them. He is most powerful and comfortable in a dark matter state.

Life Cycle

  Axion is reborn into every universe and believes himself the first soul to witness each one. Try as he does to understand reality and otherwise, he is not, and cannot be, omniscient. This makes him scientifically curious about everything and yet eternally frustrated at the universe’s infinite supply of questions. He is not born with any knowledge except for what he gleans from his past universes.

  Due to his nature, Axion does not reproduce. If he chooses to be in a carbon-based vessel, he must engineer its composition and the methods of its energy upkeep from scratch. This becomes increasingly difficult for him over time, ironically, because his understanding grows with practice.

Forms

  Axion, while in what is called his "natural state", may enter the subatomic as a form of unknown matter or he may coalesce up to sizes that breach interstellar spaces (for scale, assume 300,000 AU). However, this puts great strain on his functionality and can cause destructive gravitational anomalies. His natural state is nearly undetectable as dark matter does not interact with electromagnetism. Through a process called Resonance, however, he may affect himself into other states of being and make himself perceivable.

  Axion may exist in several matter-states. His favored carbon-based vessel is 10-12 feet (approx. 3 meters) tall. Molecular composition and skeleton type may vary; as he explores the unknown laws of life, each form he takes has something new to offer. His less favored carbon-based ("proto") vessel is an amalgamation of rock and heavy metals with volatile features. He may only have one carbon vessel at a time; he protects his successful vessels almost as carefully as if he would die with them because of how difficult they are to create. Mechanisms such as eating or breathing are not needed to keep them functional, but Axion must rest in them and eventually destroy them to properly recuperate in his natural state.

Relationships

  At measurable points in universal progression, Axion and Xenes are able to communicate. These periods grow longer as each universe increases in size and length. His power is directly inverse to Xenes’ reign of critical density in relation to spatial curvature; as time progresses and matter is exchanged in universal expansion, he grows weaker. It is thought that if an infinitely expanding universe is born*, he will die permanently** with matter itself.

Axion is on friendly terms with INTEGRA and NOVA, though they often have misunderstandings and do not like to keep each other's company for long.
