Profile

The karkadann, unlike the unicorns of Western Europe, was a ferocious beast. It was said that it was “born in blood,” that when it ran, the earth shook and when it bellowed, all creatures would flee from it, including elephants, its mortal enemy. The only animal that would go near a karkadann was the ring dove, whose song would soothe the creature’s terrible temper. Some legends claimed that hunters used women as bait for the creature, which may have given rise to the unicorn myths of Western Europe.

~Diana Peterfreund, summarizing her research on Asia Minor's unicorn myths

Aygir is a lone unicorn. Compared to the typical depiction of a unicorn, Aygir is very violent. He is not pledged to any particular herd and lives a mercenary's life (read "murder hobo"), travelling herd to herd with long stretches of solitude in between. Aygir hates humanity due to repeated capture attempts and does his best to avoid them. He typically does not attack on sight and will occasionally join herds for extended periods - he is not antisocial - but a murder on whim is not out of character.

Aygir, like all horses, is a omnivore. He prefers meat, hunted and grilled by his fiery magic.
